Read moreUpdate: After being told by maintenance staff that the water flooding our bathroom was dirty shower water not leaving the tubes properly, we were disgusted. Also they were the only ones that acknowledged the mess, no staff from hospitality apologized or asked how we were. Our toiletries got destroyed, our bags covered in dirty shower water, and we had to walk in it for a morning while another room (that we had to beg to get cleaned) was being fixed. While we were seeing massive amounts of water come out of the ceiling, the worker offered to put us in a dirty hotel room instead of put a rush on a dirty hotel room to be cleaned. Needless to say, this hotel was not only unaccommodating but we felt like they were truly bothered by us asking for a clean room. No offer to be switched to a different 4-star hotel was made after they told us there were no other hotel rooms available when our bathroom was first flooded. In fact, they tried to ask us if we caused the flooding by leaving the shower on. Good thing I have a video of the massive leak coming out of the bathroom or else I feel like they would not have believed us. We were not offered free breakfast, a free meal, or any refund of any kind even though personal belongings were ruined from the leak and I had to use my own money to refill my toiletry supplies. As we were checking out, we were not asked any questions about our stay (something we say many times with other check outs at this hotel) and in fact they charged us for a meal we had in the flooded hotel. While the location of this hotel is great and the hotel rooms themselves fine, based on my experience with hospitality and overall service I would not recommend this hotel at all.
Original review: Posting this review as accountability for what steps are taken next at this hotel. Our hotel bathroom floor was flooded and we had no idea how or why. We wake up this morning to massive amounts of water coming down from the ceiling. We think it’s coming from the hotel above us showering. Now the power is out in our entire room because this leak was coming out of the light. This seems super dangerous! We called the front desk and they just said we’d have to wait because there are no rooms available. All of our things are soaked. I have never had a hotel experience like this. I will update this review once (and if) we are able to change rooms. What a mess this has been, did not expect this on...
Read moreSilent night, heavenly sleep
After traveling 24+ hours from flight cancelled and delays, all we wanted to do was sleep upon arriving at Catalonia Born. Omg. This place is quite possibly the most quiet and peaceful inner-city hotel at which we’ve ever stayed!! We are very light sleepers and typically hear every creak and bang of other guests. We slept a solid 13 hours that night. Beds were super comfortable and the place was SILENT — just Heavenly!!
Woke up 100% refreshed and ready for our bike tour and Sagrada FAMÍLIA tours!
Front desk staff was lovely - super helpful and friendly. Unfortunately it was too chilly to use the Rooftop pool and patio, but they are both a unique and cool aspect of Catalonia Born. Also, Love the free naturally-flavored water in the lobby - another really nice perk since all the restaurants charge for water.
If you’re coming from the USA, Be sure to bring your plug adapters. Somehow we missed this, but fortunately the store directly across from the hotel sells them for €2.50.
As other reviews mentioned, this hotel is in the perfect location, just a quick walk from the Gothic quarter but maintains an authentic feel of being in an old city. Also less than a block from the Arch and in walking distance to most other popular tourist spots. We walked to Sagrada FAMÍLIA and back and also walked to Park Guell - it’s a major hike UPHILL so don’t recommend walking there but perhaps just walking back!
Definitely would stay here on a future visit and will highly recommend to friends and family. We had a quick and busy stay so Hardly took any pictures just one of the peaceful atrium right outside the window to room 105.
Thank you Catalonia Born - we...
