Quillo Bar — Restaurant in Barcelona

Stumbled across this little place on way back to hotel. Thou the atmosphere seemed lovely - busy but not crazy loud and waiting list to be seated we were excited to think we have come across a great Spanish type restaurant. The place was understaffed which we was told understandably the stuff were to be under pressure but we were spoke to so rude it shocked us - we ask for a cocktail to which we were told they wasn’t doing them so order a wine and beer and then watched them making cocktails for what seemed like locals so that was annoying. We got a seat finally ordered some food - pardon peppers and some bread. Then our main which was sea food paella. What turned up was no seafood paella - yes there was “mussels” on the dish that were the size of peas and shrivelled and cold then black pieces of what looked like mushroom stalks we were told that was squid and the paella was black. To which we assumed was the squid ink black paella we didn’t ask for plus no prawns as advertised. We allerted a waiter said we have got what we asked for and that they forgot the prawns so he will get some. He brought over a cold plate of shrimp and left - we explained again this is not what we asked for and on top of it it was cold and as if been sitting for hours. We asked for the bill - he then gave bill saying I have took of paella and that was it. Rude and food was not great. I celebrated my bday this past Friday here. I was attracted to the good environment and food of the place as well as the good reviews. I initially had a booking for 20 people and the issue is that people who didn’t confirm attended because they wanted to see me or at least grab a drink. However the waiters managed this situation (which I’m sure is very common) in the worse possible of ways, they were very rude and aggressive to my guests, it came to the point they even had the nerve of telling my arriving guests that there was no more space and that they needed to leave, no assertiveness, no way of solving it, just the worst possible handling of the situation. So some my guests felt so uncomfortable that they stood up and left which was a horrible situation to have happened on a bday celebration and I’m sure can be managed in better ways. The same aggressiveness persisted when we ordered the food, which was very low quality, I wish this was a joke but I even, found some hair on the croquettes I ordered. Same for when the bill came in, I organized the split of the bill so they knew who to charge what and at the end the waiter was so difficult to deal with that he didn’t even pay attention to my explanation, mixed up the payments so I had to cover some because I didn’t want to deal with this situation anymore. Oh yes and the music and the singer, terrible! I will never come back here and I don’t recommend it. Don’t believe the reviews unless you want to see this for yourself....
