Authentic Tranquil Italian in the heart of Bustling Barcelona We came here after seeing recommendations online (IE the best of, TripAdvisor, google etc), I myself LOVE Italian cuisine and Spaccanapoli looked the perfect place and boy were we right. Staff/Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ With no prior booking just a walk in at a busy time, they made the utmost effort with no issue to get us a table and make us feel welcome. The lady that greeted us was polite, courteous and very hospitable. Menus, drinks and options all made promptly but not rushed, no pressure and very relaxed. We were later served by I assume the manager, again a truly lovely gentleman who ensured nothing was too much, after a bit of confusion over ordering 'apple juice' and recieving a cider / beer which we laughed about (where others could have been frustrated or acted differently), he served our food fresh from the kitchen with no delay. Upon completion no rush to leave, no pressure to remove ourselves for a booking, just a really nice homely family feel and vibe, very polite and very professional and fun with our 8yr old. Decor: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authentic authentic authentic, if you're a sopranos fan, it felt just like walking into Arty Buccos with Tony and the family on that night when the power was out... If you know, you know. Complete with checker tablecloth, and an abundance of Napoli memorabilia, including very eye-catching tributes to the man himself Diego Maradona from his trophy Laden successful time at the Serie A club. Hand of God aside, there were also tributes to famous Italian celebrities, public figures both on the walls and in the menu, which was a nice touch and different to a bog standard boring printed menu. One really cool thing was the name of the restaurant printed onto the bottles of house water, very very niche and made it feel special. Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ EXCEPTIONAL EXCEPTIONAL EXCEPTIONAL Words will struggle to do justice to the flavours we experienced, it was a masterclass in cuisine. I ordered Pasta Ragu, my wife Gnocchi and my daughter Pizza (of course) and each dish was both fragrant, tasty and impeccably presented, you can tell the kitchen staff and ownership really pride themselves on presentation and delivering a top class, made with love experience and that is exactly what we received. Portion sizes were almost too good as even I struggled to finish the Ragu, something that NEVER happens, yet we looked around at other diners and not only were they full and happy but their meals looked incredible, plenty of compliments were made to the chef that night. Location: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A hidden gem would be my description, a little awkward to find for a tourist but situated in a gorgeous alley of chic bars and restaurants alongside shops and great architecture (if that's your thing). Away far enough from the loud and brash nightlife but well within the area to comfortably spend a few hours soaking up the culture. Accessible to a point from out taxi but plenty of transport options available. Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We can't rate this place highly enough in all areas, super clean, immaculately presented, wonderful staff, impressive decor, superb value and exceptional food..... There's not much else to say but if we could eat here every night, we would Thank you for the hospitality, if ever we're back in Barca, we're booking a table

Disappointing Experience with Italian Restaurant Spaccanapoli. As a passionate enthusiast of Italian cuisine, my recent visit to Spaccanapoli left me thoroughly disappointed. Despite my love for Italian food, I was shocked by the lackluster service and questionable practices at this establishment. Firstly, when I requested to have my leftovers wrapped up, I was appalled by the unprofessional manner in which it was done. I suggest potential patrons take a look at the photos provided by me to witness the careless packaging of their pizza. Furthermore, what truly irked me was the sneaky addition of a 10% surcharge to the bill for no apparent reason. It seems the management here believes in charging customers extra without any justification or attempt to provide a satisfactory experience. It's nothing short of daylight robbery. It's evident that at Spaccanapoli, the concept of earning tips is completely disregarded. Despite the lack of warning, they shamelessly tack on the additional charge, leaving patrons feeling cheated and taken advantage of. In conclusion, I strongly advise against visiting this establishment. Not only was the service far from welcoming, but the audacity to add an extra 10% to the bill for subpar service is simply unacceptable. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a more reputable Italian restaurant in the area.

The food was good, however we were very rushed and I didn’t enjoy the experience. It was a Monday evening and I booked, it wasn’t even that busy. First, one staff was rushing us to order a couple times, then a different staff came and we ordered drinks, after which the second staff came to ask if we can ‘at least order drinks’ which we already had done. I ordered a pizza and while my friends had already finished and I was talking a little break, the staff came and asked quickly if we’d finished and took away a QUARTER of my amazing pizza before I could even realize it. I thought he meant other empty plates, come on you don’t take away a quarter of a whole pizza without even asking if a person wants to take it home or finish. Then at the very second I finished coffee they came with the check and in like 2 min came again to ask to pay. At the cash I wanted to pay for all foods except first courses, but the lady asked me to list all the foods I wanted to pay for. Like it’s easier to just take out 3 plates of pasta from a long order, not making me recite the list it is just stupid. Sure they were kind enough to sing me a congrats song and everything, but I don’t think I will be back. The whole thing is just rushed and unpleasant, feeling like they don’t care at all and just want you to eat asap pay and go.

My partner and I wished to have an excellent meal prior to our departure from Barcelona and discovered Spacannapoli through a Google search. We had our hopes high, as authentic Italian restaurants in Canada has had exceptional service in addition to their quality of food. Upon arrival, none of the staff had acknowledged us following a very brief observation of the two of us entering the restaurant. Hence, we had assumed that it was a self seating situation (as this has been something we have encountered during our travels in Spain) and seated ourselves given that there were plenty of tables available. Receiving a menu initially took about ten minutes (again without a greeting) and then about twenty to thirty minutes for someone to take our order. Our appetizers were delivered first, followed by our drinks. Once we finished our appetizers, we proceeded to wait another thirty minutes before our bill was delivered to our table without even having our main meals arrive (bill also included the meals which weren't delivered). Once we clarified that our meals hadn't arrived, they were delivered soon after. At this point, we were worried we were an inconvenience to the staff and rushed to eat our meals. We hadn't even completed our meals before requesting a box for our food and the bill. We continued to wait, and observed many other tables receiving their orders. We only wanted to leave at this point and could have been out of the restuarant within five minutes, but were forced to wait about twenty minutes to complete this process. We observed everyone receiving their bills following their completed meals and being offered the chance to pay at the table. We were told after our total wait of two hours to pay up at the bar. Overall, we felt incredibly rushed and saddened to have experienced this during our last night in Barcelona. Our language skills outside of English are very poor and we felt that this had something to do with the level of service we received. Although the service was disappointing, the quality and portions of food was incredible and I am excited to share with my Italian friends back in Canada about the quality of...
