Beware of a guy carrying a basket of coconuts. He is a scammer! His first approaches you by asking if you wanna take pictures with the fountain, then talk to you casually, asking where you come from, and praising your place is good, then he casually take out coconut pieces to you and insists you to try to take a bite and says they are fresh coconuts. After seeing you bite it, he starts to ask you for money, 2 euros for one small piece. He usually targets tourists in a group, especially those who are taking pictures in there. We had two people and we spent some time observing his actions, realizing he used the same approaches on others. Some people rejected him and put the coconut back to the basket (and this is unhygienic and why you should never take a bite too!) His approach makes you feel like he is just a friendly local helping out, after your guard is down, he smoothly gives you the coconuts and pretends like he just wants to share his coconuts. We didn’t understand what was going on at first and he stood there with us in silence for a while which was very awkward, then he started doing hand gestures of wanting money. I gave him some coins, thinking he just wanted some tips, turned out he wanted 2 euros for each person, I gave him most coins I had but he kept on asking, cheeky as hell. In the end I probably did not have 4 euros, only around 3 euros something, and he left and turned away to find his next target. Please be aware of this scammer!
