Restaurant Torres — Restaurant in Barcelona

I don’t know how this place got rated so high - I visited purely on the google maps reviews.

The service was great, very polite and friendly and chatty. Some spoke some English so it was possible to order easily.

The food seemed a bit subpar though. We have eaten a lot in Barcelona and had some great meals that cost less than the meal we paid for here. The quality and freshness wasn’t there. We felt a bit hesitant to eat the food when looking at it. We even noticed the padron peppers had black seed, which means they are not fresh produce - padron peppers should have white seeds.

The potato omelette was nice, eggs were a bit undercooked but otherwise okay.

The paella didn’t seem to have the taste and freshness of others we had. For €20 per person you’d expect a great meal. There was no crispy base and the rice didn’t come out sizzling on the hot pan as it should.

I don’t like writing negative reviews but I feel strongly about people taking advantage of tourists and taking advantage of people in general. I hesitated a lot to write this but in the end thought it was the right thing to do.

By no means was it a terrible meal, but we paid a premium price and expect a premium meal.

It’s not a place I would recommend if you’re expect a great meal for a great price.

Update:

We spent all day yesterday with an upset stomach and can only associate it with this restaurant/meal.

Upon further inspection, the paella had a film over it. Makes me feel sick...

Want a good meal? Want good service? This restaurant is for you. I spent a long time deciding where to go, reading restaurant reviews. I really wanted a Poella. And I decided to check out this restaurant. The photos of the food and the reviews got me hooked. It's insanely delicious. It's the kind of thing that makes you want more and more. The paella was delicious, the seafood platter full of different flavours. The steak, ohhhh.. the steak. The sangria, which they make themselves, was delicious. I've had sangria in a lot of places and it was really good here. And the best part was the service. Good, not pushy, very quick service. As soon as you need it, the waiter is at your table. When we were choosing what to eat, we were shown photos of the dishes, which helped us choose more quickly. At the end of the restaurant we were offered a delicious shot of our choice, compliments of the restaurant. It was very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant, insanely delicious, great service. Was walking in Barcelona hungry for a light meal seeing what’s around and catch our eye. Stumbled upon restaurant Torres and wanted to see the menu. The waiter and I assume manager or owner were very hospitable and friendly and told us of their foods and asked what were we in the mood for. I asked if they had a tuna tartare and they showed us photos on their tablet of similar style food I was in mood for. They had real photos of their actual meals and they looked so good I ordered 3 appetizers when I only wanted 1 because I wanted to try the mouth watering meals. Well all 3 were amazing. Steak tartare, Morillo blood sausage with rice that looked like sushi’s and grilled octopus seasoned to perfection that was the best I’ve had. I needed to have sangria to finish off the mouth watering meals. The service was quick friendly and attentive just as it should be. Would love to come back but I’m only visiting Barcelona. And we made the right choice to sit and eat here for a quick bite before calling it a night at hotel!...
