It is a wide and beautiful promenade in the heart of Barcelona, stretching from the Arc de Triomf to Parc de la Ciutadella. Originally built for the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition, it was later named in honor of Lluís Companys, the former president of Catalonia. Great boardwalk and park. The Arc de Triomf is stunning at the beginning/end of the tree and light-lined walkway. There was a silent zoomba-type class going on in one section. When we first arrived, there were street merchants that quickly packed up and ran away as the police came close (lol). We watched some artists paint, blow giant bubbles, play music, etc. etc. There really is a ton to do and see here...or just people watch and enjoy...

This area was definitely a highlight whilst we were in Barcelona! The gardens are simply so lush with greenery everywhere and there is constant surveillance by local police which made it feel that extra bit safer. We visited late May/ June time and there was a lot of people yet more benches so there was plenty of room to take a seat and watch the world go by. It is a short walk from areas with a lot of food places and coffee shops so...
