Pros: Perfect for tourists because all the main attractions are at a walkable distance! The bus stop and the metro are right around the corner too and some cafes. The hotel offers a buffet style breakfast for 9 euros/person too. The buffet staff was nice, but Mari was especially friendly! The front desk lady, Lesia, was very helpful when we did not know how to take the metro. Housekeeping makes your bed everyday which is great so after a long day of sight seeing we come back to a clean looking room. Cons: Some cons are that there is a light switch on the headboard of the beds. It happened every night that our heads would turn the lights on and wake up our family. The way the lights work in the room is that you need to insert your keycard into a slot that activates all the switches. You could remove the keycard before bed to prevent this issue from happening but then if you get up to use the restroom at night, it would be pitch dark and you would not be able to activate the lights without the keycard. Another con is that the toilet is inches away from the bathtub/shower, meaning that it is basically impossible to sit with your legs straight (facing forward like normal) so the best way to use the toilet is to sit sideways… yeah, unless you want to be crammed with your shins touching the tub, you need to sit sideways on the toilet. Also there is no fan in the bathroom so the steam has no way of ventilating which can create mold on the ceiling.. Also the shower curtain touches your skin unless you stick it to the tub with water.. yuck! Overall, it was the most affordable hotel for 3 that we could find in a location where it was near main attractions. I would recommend staying here if you are on a budget and don’t mind walking...
Read moreHotel Glòries is definitely a 3-star hotel, and it shows. On the positive side, the hotel is clean, and the reception staff is very helpful. However, housekeeping is a bit lazy, only working until a certain time, and they did a terrible job cleaning the room. Strangely, they would also take the key card out of the power slot every time they cleaned, which was weird and inconvenient.
Also, if you’re expecting a proper double bed, beware — it’s just two twin beds pushed together, and they tend to separate, leaving a gap that you can easily fall into. The hotel doesn’t provide an iron, but instead offers dry cleaning at ridiculous prices. There’s also no kettle or coffee in the room; you can borrow one from the lobby, but you’re required to return it, which is quite bizarre.
The noise at night can be a problem, as you can hear sounds both from within the hotel and from outside, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep. The location is decent, with about a 15-minute walk to the Sagrada Família, but the area isn’t very well lit.
For the price, though, I feel there are better options. We ended up going to Olivia Balmes for just 85 euros more, and the difference was night and day — from free coffee and high-quality toiletries to a pool, gym, and a much better overall ambience and service. Plus, Olivia Balmes has a fantastic location that’s...
Read moreExcellent location. Short 3-4 min (300 m) walk Monumental (old bull ring) metro station. Great WiFi and very quiet room with tub and shower. Large well lit lobby The room key activates the room electricity so it takes a while for air conditioning to cool room on your arrival. An environmental plus but requires patience after a hot day of sight seeing. Limited access to electrical outlets, bring an extension cord. Mini bar looks like a refrigerator but ours was at room temperature.||City Tour Hop-on-Hop off bus stop in about 5 min walk across from near the National Theater of Catalunya at corner of Avinguda Meridiana and C. de Pamplona.||||To get Hotel Glories from the airport take the Airport Express bus (A1) to Plaça Universitat, walk across street to Universitat metro station take Purple line (L2 in Badalona Pompeu Fabra direction) 3 stops to Monumental station. or (less expensive) #46 bus to Plaça Espanya (bus stop is on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes) cross street to metro station take the Red line (L1 in Fondo direction) 8 stops to the Glories station.||||To get Hotel Glories from the Sants Estació train station take the Blue line (L5 Vall d'Hebron direction) 5 stops to Sagrada Família transfer to the Purple line (L2 in Parallel direction) go 1 stops to...
