Xurreria — Local services in Barcelona

Add me to the very long list of devotees of Xurreria. We stopped by after a light lunch and devoured a serving of churros fresh from the fryer and lightly dusted with sugar, dipping them into the warm, creamy cup of chocolate served with the dipping churros. I have eaten this treat at several other venues in Barcelona over the past year, but now after enjoying them at Xurreria, I will never get these anywhere else! At Xurreria's, it is clear that the churros are lovingly prepared using fresh oil. This has been my major disappointment at other venues, which have used old oil to fry the treats. The freshness of the oil makes all the difference in the lightness and flavor, giving Xurreria's churros a fresh taste, not at all heavy or greasy. And the chocolate sauce is decadent and indulgent - perfect...

You can't go wrong with this churrería. You know it must be good since there are crowds outside. But it all goes very fast, the staff is very efficient. You can pay in cash or by card. Their strong side are the churros as such. The dough is very good, they are fried to a perfect point and they are not very oily like many other places. That's great. The churros go well with hot chocolate. The chocolate they serve here was, in my opinion, not the worst, not the best. I would appreciate it to have a bit more cocoa. The disadvantage of this churrería is that it's very small, has no place to sit or tables and it's located in a quite narrow street which makes the experience less enjoyable. Ordered 2 orders of the 6 churros and chocolate. Didn't need the second cup of chocolate sauce and they didn't charge me. Also, they gave us a free churro for a little one.

What made it stand out to me was their friendliness, honesty, and their genuinely graciousness. They totally DO NOT scam tourists! (or at least me when I went). For their karma, as I was walking back to my hotel with churros in hand, another tourist asked me where I got these from (they were also on the hunt as per their Google Maps) and I pointed them to this one!

They really do know how to do business and they deserve...
