Read moreCentrally located. An easy 5 minute walk to Plaza Mayor and the city center. The Catedral de Burgos is an easy 10 minute walk. The castle is a 15 minute walk. Set just across from the river, you can stroll along the river banks and take in the natural beauty of the city.
The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Full-scale bathroom and lavatory area. Two closets, coffee bar area, refrigerator, room safe, two chairs, and a two person sofa. There is a desk (with one of the chairs) with USB plugs and an electrical outlet. When I said spacious, I do mean spacious for this not being one of their suites.
My only critique of the bath area is that the tub should have either more grab bars or the tub floor should have anti-slip strips.
The staff in the hotel is wonderful! Reception is very efficient both with check-in and check out. Questions were always answered with a smile and suggestions when requested. The cocktail bar staff is friendly and attentive.
There is lemon water next to reception. After a day's walk about, a cold refreshing glass of water is most welcome.
Be sure to pay attention to their ecological conservation offers. You are rewarded with a beverage for delaying room service. This is a very creative idea to help conserve both water and energy.
I only have one small critical critique of one minor arrangement regarding the in-room coffee service. When we arrived, the in-room coffee bar only had 3 coffee pods - 1 intense, 1 normal and 1 decaffeinated. Going down to reception to inquire of an extra coffee pod or two, we were told that there would be a charge. However, if we waited until the next morning, housekeeping would provide any number of pods, no additional charge. This appears odd to me in that it delays the morning coffee "fix". For morning tea drinkers, this won't be an issue as there were numerous tea options and a kettle. Minor detail, but the reason for this process eludes me.
I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again during my winter...
Read moreWe are in Burgos quite frequently and stay either here or at the AC Hotel across the river. In the past we have had great stays at the NH Collection here however this time was not as nice. Rooms are really starting to show their wear and while the building is architecturally historic and very beautiful everything needs a good renovation. They also are continuing a policy of minimal amenities (no coffee maker, hot water boiler) in the rooms which we were grumpily told was due to COVID policy by the night manager but which is really just cost savings (we have recently been at NH Collections in Leon, Berlin and Madrid that have no such policy and have fully stocked rooms). Even the bar and coffee shop in the lobby is closed. In fact - when we raised these issues with the night manager and asked him to pass them along to the main manager he replied, “you tell him - I’ve already done it.” The website confirms these things are still included in the room when you book so there is a bit of false advertising going on here. I would have loved the chance to raise these issues directly with the hotel upon checkout but I was not asked how my stay was (nor thanked for staying for that matter). We have already changed our next reservation and will be back at the much more welcoming AC next trip during the...
