Restaurante Don Nuño — Restaurant in Burgos

This is surely my first complaint in years as I only love to write possitives, but a promisse is a promisse and here it goes. The night of Corpiños I went with a group of friends, all foreign except myself. I was inviting them for an early dinner and the location was perfect with views of the Cathedral, almost in front. I am not particularly focus on places so close to the monuments in general, but in the same o corner it was the best restaurant in Burgos also facing the Cathedral, so I thought this was going to be good. We accepted the menue of 22 euros aprox and several first and second places to choose. There were no people inside but several tables at the terrace. We ordered the food to two of the local waiters, classical ones with many years experience. When all plates arrived to the table, the last one was mine, I asked for lamb chops and they were smaller than potatoes, with no meat at all and burned completely. As I was inviting them for dinner I took my plate and went directly to the bar inside and complaint. I told that I never saw something as this in my life and invited the waitir to turn it back to the kitchen and see if anyone had seen something with worse presentation in their many years attending to the table. One of the waiters, came back in front of my guests and started shouting "education education" so rude. Very embarassed. The other waiter came back and was as surprised as me and apologized. Finally they did not charged me for the lamb chops, but the situation was very sad. Had been working guiding groups and travellers from all over the world for more than 30 years and never saw something as this. Particularly sad as Burgos is probably one of the top places in Spain to enjoy the local food, high end gastronomy and war and personal attendance by professionals. So, if for some reason I will return soon in Burgos, I wont never ever repeat this experience in this restaurant. Sorry to say that, and very sorry to all local professionalism in this unique city, but hopefuly they will learn the lesson , to treat next customers on their best way. Unfortunately the lowest rating I can give Don Nuño is 1 star; the food here is half a star at best. They served us spaghetti—if you could even call it that—that was blatantly thrown onto a plate by careless cooks. Not only was no show of any effort towards the dish but it tasted like it was out of a can. The noodles were too soft and there were small 4 pieces of meat pathetically sticking out from the pale, watery sauce. The chicken was unseasoned and tasted like leftovers, and the fries: soggy and oily. I would not recommend this even to the hungriest...

No se cómo empezar con esta valoración, ha sido una experiencia muy, muy rara. Hemos acudido al local a las 20:45 a cenar, cuando hemos visto que estaba abierto hasta las 23:00. Hemos preguntado si había sitio para cenar y nos han sentando en una mesa sin poner ninguna pega. Hemos pedido 2 menús especiales, empezando con morcilla y la morcilla nos la han servido fría, se veía que estaba hecha con anterioridad y no se han molestado, ni en calentarla en el microondas. Con los segundos platos, nada a recalcar, se puede comentar que hemos pedido chuletillas de cordero y han sacado pata de cordero acompañada de una única chuletilla. Simplemente comentar que el precio de pata de cordero, no es comparable al de la chuletilla de cordero. A la hora de los postres, nos han ofrecido lo que les quedaba, 2 tartas o un helado, todo correcto habiendo ido a cenar tan tarde, pero junto con el postre, nos han traído la cuenta, sin preguntar si nos interesaría tomar un café, infusión o lo que sea. Al minuto de sacar el postre, sin haberlo terminado, hemos observado como han ido saliendo los trabajadores uno a uno, menos un camarero de la barra que ha sido el que nos ha cobrado la cena. Nos han despachado, a eso de las 22:00, lo del horario hasta las 23:00 no se cumple. Hemos tenido que ir a tomar el café a otro negocio de la zona. El trato ha sido educado, pero no ha sido profesional, ni nos hemos sentido a gusto. Creo que nos han invitado a una copa de vino, diría que en el menú únicamente entraba una y he pedido una segunda copa, pero esto no quita el trato que hemos recibido y lo mal que nos hemos sentido.
