Read recent reviews after booking and panicked. I needn't have worried though.
Pros: Location next to the sea View from room Price Friendly Staff Cheap and easy restaurant Transport links to airport/Palma
Cons: Tired area lack of wifi €3.50 for the use of the beds
Lovely apartment block for the price. Do make sure you get a sea view room though as the street view ones are predominantly a concrete wall (it's built into the hill). We upgraded on arrival for €20 per night. The apartments are quite large and more than comfortable. Balconies are very private and offer stunning views across the bay.
Pool is nice and the hotel is sited right on the seafront. Beds do cost to use for the day which I don't agree with when being used by guests. There's an old concrete promenade with steps into the sea. It's very tired and could do with resurfacing, it's also partially collapsed in places. The restaurant food is cheap and very tasty - far from Michelin Star of course but it's good for what it is and the portion sizes are fantastic.
Wifi is non existent. It's there for you to join but you can't actually get on the internet. Fine for me as I'm with Three so can get my allowances abroad but if you're with many others that are reintroducing overseas charges, you'll struggle (thank Brexit!). It's on the A11 bus route which runs directly to and from the airport for €5-€7. Runs every hour or so, so you can avoid large transfer costs! Also routes to Palma for €2 so you can have a day out seeing the old town if you want.
The general area is okay. It's falling apart a bit, other apartment blocks are barely inhabited and have paint fading away. The coastal path is falling apart, literally in two places and I wouldn't be surprised if it completely fell into the sea before long (you can still walk along it, not much health and safety!). Covid has done damage too to a lot of the local businesses. There's what might as well be called 'British Square' round the corner; maybe 7 or 8 British/Irish bars, fish and chip shop, kebab shops... However only a few were open and when speaking to the owners they said they'd had barely any support and were...
Read moreMyself and my 17yr old daughter stayed at Verdemar, Globales, Santa Ponsa from Friday 20th to Friday 27th.we have stayed here on several occasions and loved it..the sea view balcony is fantastic..we dont mind paying for the sun beds each day as you right next to the sea..they have now also put steps into sea to make it more accessible which is brilliant..Victor and Jose are so pleasant as are the bar and restaurant staff.. However after our first night the noise in the early hours 3,4, 5 am was unacceptable..we tried to ring the reception from the phone in apartment however no one answered..we eventually got to speak to someone in reception after ringing from our own mobile phones..i expressed my concern at the level of noise and screaming and asked if there was any security to address the issue however got no satisfactory reply.. The next morning i reported above to reception and was reassured it would be addressed if continued. This behaviour continued for the remainder of our holiday..starting from 2am onwards..when i spoke to reception again i was dismissed and told that the security had heard no noise..at this point i felt very disheartened at the attitude of reception staff.I know there were other noise complaints from other people as they also spoke to reception staff. The screaming was so loud i thought of calling Civil Guardia as i was very concerned...we were very unlucky to be so near the people who were behaving this way and had no regard for any one else.Security needs to be increased at Verdemar and a no tolerence policy update. Usually wonderful place to stay, beautiful view of the sea, spotlessly clean, exceptional housekeeping staff and bar staff.. Reception staff need to take complaints seriously and be less dismissive. They could have offered to move us over to other side of building away from noise as there were vacant apartments however we were left to suffer on.. This experience would not deter us from staying here again ..hopefully these concerns will be addressed...
Read moreJust come back from a week here. Hotel was standard, restaurant/ staff and food was nice and good value for money. Decent location, access to sea directly outside and a 3 minute walk to main beach. The lifeguards were brilliant, David and Flor was very kind and helpful( as had sea urchin spines stuck in my foot) Davud especially was very sociable and friendly and would talk to the guests and made them feel welcome and really uplifted the stay. However, negatives was had to pay for sunbeds daily, bit of a joke, especially as people would reserve sunbeds all day, not pay and only come to them at 4pm for an hour. When we went to check in we had arrived at 1:30 and check in was at 2 so we was told to come back at 2, which is understandable. However when returning at 2 we was told it would be another 10 minutes, so fine we waited. Asked again and told another 10 minutes and then repeated this again and told another 10 mins however room wasn’t ready until 3. Yes it’s only an hour, however when it’s 30 degrees and you have been travelling since 3 o’clock in the morning it is rather frustrating to be told we have to wait longer, when we just want to drop bags off, change and start the holiday. Had we of originally been told it wasn’t ready till 3 would have been less of an issue as we could have occupied ourselves however we was repeatedly told 10 minutes which was a lie. The final time we had asked the receptionist asked another receptionist who called someone and said the room wasn’t ready and ended up giving us a different one. If this was able to happen why was a different room not provided until an hour after. The room itself was clean and decent condition, pool was good and other amenities there. If you don’t mind waiting around and paying for sunbeds then would recommend. Not sure I would visit again, however...
