This hotel was beyond disappointing. I tried to switch hotels on the first night, but the staff member said that because I had already paid, then there was an issue. So, let me go through the issues and then what was good about this hotel.
The AC is pretty much non-existent. I downloaded an app to show what the room temperature was and it stayed at 78 or above our whole five days. This is why I talked to the staff the first night. The “maintenance guy” came to the room first. And I’m not kidding you when he took a screwdriver and opened up some of the vents, then told my husband – “they are all like that. This is the AC unit here.” I was beyond flustered, so I went back up the main desk. I was told we could be moved to another room, which I was shown, and it was just as sweltering. It seemed silly to move all of our stuff into a room that was just as hot. I was told we could get a window unit to put in the room. I know from having them in the US this means #1. Your room is going to be noisier. (we were right next to the pool so that would be great waking up to bright and early when the pool opens in the morning and families are going to eat breakfast) and #2. The unit could be noisy. So we said we would talk to the staff in the morning and toughed it out for the first night. I’m perplexed as to why I can’t get my money back for a room that I dislike and am disappointed with. We ended up just roughing it with the AC after figuring we were not going to get our money back and there was no solution.
The “beach” (which is one of the smallest on the island) is super packed event in September and was one of the less attractive beaches in the area. We had a room with the sunbed and it was nice, but so close to the pool you would be better saving money and just getting a regular room. Plus the trees and squareness of the outside of the hotel means you only get sun a portion of the time during the day, dependent on where you are located.
The hotel staff is pretty clueless when it comes to activities on the island and the amount of information in the lobby is poor. Lots of the companies are located on the other ½ of the island which means a long drive. I had to google our activities and find the companies located on the port rather than asking the staff. This is frustrating and not what a 4-star or even 3-star hotel should be like. Why are there not flyers for the companies on the port near the hotel and what they offer?
Don’t be fooled this is not a hotel full of adult couples. It’s mostly families with small children, so if you are looking for a romantic hotel without screaming kids, this place is not for you.
The entertainment was screechy and pretty bad all of the nights we were there, so go down the port for better bands, live music as well as drinks. They would do better just having light music or a DJ.
The good things about the hotel: It is located in walking distance to the port from where you can choose from a range of restaurants and bars. This port also has activities like a boat tour that takes you to 14 or so beaches and drops you off at one of them for an hour. There are several other activities to choose from as well – my tip is to walk over there and speak to the ones during the morning to get an idea of what they offer. *You may have to book several days out. Our tour was full and we booked the day of in Sep, but in the summer it gets full fast from what the staff at the agency told us.
The pool is fine, but not wonderful. The families and kids seemed to enjoy it, however. There are tons of lawn chairs that are comfy and you get free towels at the hotel front desk. Just ask for them when you check in rather than going back up there.
Overall for the cost, the lack of AC, the lack of information, the not great beach, the location that is so-so I would give the...
Read moreCarema Beach is beautiful. If you want sea and sand with sun (I can’t guarantee that obviously!) this is for you. We had a privilege apartment on the ground floor and we literally walked out our patio doors to the pool a few metres walk away. We had shade in the mornings and so sat on the loungers right by the pool but in the afternoons and evenings we had sun on our patio right until sundown. There was a double lounger with thick mattress that was shade or sun (it had curtains) that was brilliant for a siesta. A few paces past the pool were some steps and a door leading straight out into the beach. We would walk out our room and straight to the sea, have a swim with the fish, and walk straight back to our loungers outside our room. However there are loungers in the beach if you want to pay and some pedaloes with slides to hire too. Theres a box full of inflatables, parasols and beach toys that other tourists have left behind for everyone to use. The views out to sea at breakfast are beautiful. We only had breakfasts, which were a good choice of buffet, from cold meats, cheeses, fruit, vegetables etc and cooked breakfast, fresh breads and rolls and pastries, yogurts and cereals too. I would say one set back was that the hot food was not very hot, but I just put mine in the microwave and it was fine. There really was everything you could wish for to choose from. The staff are very hard working and friendly and the place is kept immaculate. The pool is clean, and deep and large enough to swim in properly for exercise. If you run, there are beautiful routes round about and it feels safe. The marina down the road is good for lots of restaurants and also some touristy shops with a supermarket and pharmacy. These are higher prices than if you go into a town though. We hired a car from nearby which was very good value and visited some beautiful beaches etc. The bus was easy to use to go to Ciutadella and easy to find to come back too. The room was kept beautifully clean every day, and was large enough to feel spacious. The bed was huge and shower really lovely. There are very few items to cook with though, so if you self cater, take some camping pans with you or hire from reception for €20. (We managed to borrow a few pans for free somehow!)|All in all, a...
Read moreI would like to share our experience of staying at the hotel, the positive aspects, the hotel and accommodation are excellent, in the very center, everything is nearby, a supermarket, shops, restaurants, the sea and the beach are right in front of the hotel, the rooms are clean, they have everything you need, they take care of it, if you are lucky, the room at on the first floor with a view of the pool and the sea will be a bonus, breakfast is everything and dinner is also enough, now the negative sides, when they give rooms at the back you will always hear music and noise, they say that the windows do not let it in, this is true, but we want no air conditioning breathe all night and sleep with the windows open, there were problems with the sliding doors in the room, but they tried to fix it right away (thank you). you have to pay for water, we know that they don't have everything included, but water for your guests, I think it's wrong, it doesn't give you advantages, I'm not talking about water in glass bottles, but about water from the machine that is available in the morning and coke for children could would be a bonus for them (but these are our opinions, which of course do not accuse you of anything) another thing is that there are a lot of flies in the restaurant, you will just wave your hands, they are everywhere and no one fights with it, unfortunately we will not return as we were mistaken and thought that there was a children's club and in the evening there was some entertainment for guests, there was a disc jockey once and that was all, but I repeat it was our inattention (there is definitely something to work on), unfortunately this is our last visit to this island, as we are looking a more British way of rest (all inclusive, entertainment program for guests and a children's club, this is our saddest trip where the child already said on the third day that we are going home, but we want to say thank you for...
