Bar Latibule — Restaurant in Ciutadella

Discovered this bar restaurant on way back from beach in afternoon. Friendly man running it . he sat with us for a chat and explained his friend was cooking for the restaurant while his wife was away . Drinks were cheap and we called in the next day . We booked for a paella for two the next night . On the paella night we had a pint and a small wine to drink . His friend cooked it and served it . I have eaten paella for years and can honestly say it was the worst paella I have ever had. Two prawn on top . Some small clams in shell which were gritty and stodgy rice . Came in a small frying pan and was served on two medium sized dinner plates, it barely filled a quarter of the plate . We didn’t eat it all and asked for the bill. He said we didn’t need a bill it was €65 . If the drinks were €10 means we paid €55 for the paella. Unfortunately we couldn’t complain as there was no price for paella . Wenn man an drei von fünf Abenden auf Menorca zum Italiener geht, muss es dafür gute Gründe geben. Und die bietet die Bar Latibule in Cala'n Bosch (Carrer Circumval·lació, 22, 07769 Cap d'Artrutx) reichlich.

Da sind zum Beispiel die Inhaber, Alessia und Giovanni. Super freundlich, herzlich, aufmerksam und selbst im größten Stress ist immer Zeit für ein Pläuschken.

Zweimal hatten wir dort Pizza, einmal Pasta. Achtung: Die Pasta steht nicht auf der Karte. Man muss danach fragen, es gibt sie nicht immer - nur dann, wenn Alessia und Gio Lust darauf haben. Wir hatten Spaghetti all'Amatriciana (würzige Tomatensoße mit Speck) und Spaghetti Carbonara (mit frischem Ei, wie es sich gehört, und Speck). Beides der Oberknaller, sooo lecker.

Pizza und Tapas gibt es dagegen immer. Die Karte ist sehr übersichtlich, aber es gibt Besonderheiten.

Etwa die Pizza Menorcina mit Sobrasada (Streichwurst), Käse aus Mahón und Honig - einfach nur köstlich. Zudem gab es eine Pizza Goat mit Ziegenkäse, Walnüssen und Honig. Fantastisch. Beim zweiten Pizza-Abend gab es nochmal (!) die Menorcina und eine Tonno e Cipolla, ebenso prima.

Keine der genannten Speisen war zur Zeit unseres Besuchs teurer als 15 Euro. Auch die Getränkepreise sind mehr als fair.

Unbezahlbar ist dagegen der Spaß, den man dort hat. Die ganze Zeit läuft Classic Rock (bisschen anstrengend auf Dauer, aber das ist eben Chefsache) und der Chef singt laut mit - nicht immer gut, aber voller Hingabe. Fast möchte man ihn knuddeln.

Zugegeben, die Bar Latibule wirkt etwas unaufgeräumt und renovierungsbedürftig, aber das ist so was von egal. Die Abende sind einfach unvergesslich.

A small cafe bar with about 8 outside tables ,very friendly service .The 2 Large glasses of sangria i ordered were very well presented with skewers of blueberries & strawberry on top of the glass which was also packed with fruit .The drink itself was very refreshing. Food wise I ordered a large bolognese pizza to share which was freshly made & served on a wooden platter board which took as expected a wile to arrive .I thought the pizza was OK but nothing special as it had more cheese than bolognese which was...
