The Villa Del Conde exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived at the hotel by coach transfer, we were wowed! The front entrance at reception was very grand. The hotel looked incredible and it’s lit up outside at night - very pretty. I read a lot of reviews on the hotel, mostly positive with some negative comments, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Everyone can have such a different opinion. My husband didn’t know whether he would like this type of holiday. So the hotel being a success was a huge win! We loved everything about the Villa Del Conde. The staff were lovely and friendly. The appearance of the hotel was set like a Spanish village which made it traditional with such warmth. The rooms were a very good size and the bathroom was great. We stayed in standard room with no extras - more than all we needed. I would recommend you bring extension leads because there are not very many plug sockets. We seen the ‘Unique’ area were you could get a bigger room, had access to a private pool, had a pool view or more room in your balcony but we decided that wasn’t extras that we would really need. It would add expense to the holiday that we probably wouldn’t use. However, for some people, this might be an extra that they want.|The breakfast buffet and the evening buffet was a major highlight. The food was unbelievable! There was something for everybody and the selection in the buffet just went on and on and on. We would consider ourselves food snobs because we love good food, fresh food. The hotel buffet was both. The fact my husband was pleased, said it all. You could have had: fish, steak, pork or chicken, vegetarian, you could have salad or vegetables or soup or fruit or stirfry or pasta - this isn’t even doing it justice, the amount of options are endless! There could be up to 20 stations to visit between starter main course and dessert. When I was reading about different dishes on their menus, they grow a lot of their own fruit and vegetables in their own farm in Gran Canaria. |The grounds to the hotel were beautiful, homely, open, so relaxing and atmospheric. We loved being at the main pool during the day but there were quite a few options for pools and plenty of sun loungers. The pool bar was great - the service was wonderful, with great snacks and such a selection of drinks. The hotel gave you a new pool towel everyday if you wanted (open 10am-12pm). The entertain team were superb offering a range of activities you could avail of during the day, should you wish. I loved the aqua classes. A member of the entertainment team arrived, full of enthusiasm, with the boombox everyday at 12pm and sometimes 3pm and anyone could go into the pool and join in. Fantastic! There were other fitness classes on inside the green hut near the pool during the day, along with other activities like darts. I used the Lopesan app, which was terrific - I was able to see what day activities & night entertainment was on and at what time, along with all of the menus for drinks and food. There’s a lot you can do through the app and I highly recommend if you’re staying in one of these hotels you download it.|The evening entertainment was so varied and sometimes there was one act or a couple on per night. It took place in the plaza area near the buffet restaurant. It was always a really high standard - something for everybody.|This was the kind of holiday where you could’ve stayed in the hotel the whole time without going out at all. We did go for walks along the promenade and the beach, which was right beside the hotel. |This hotel is suited to anybody who is looking for a relaxing, calming environment to enjoy a week away.|We did go and visit the other Lopesan hotels that are very close by and they were incredible but we felt this hotel suited us better. The Villa Del Conde is a bit smaller than the others and we felt that gave it such a lovely atmosphere. I suggest you do your research and pick the hotel suited to you.|Some people have commented on the appearance of the hotel looking a bit rundown and we just did not find that at all. It is full of character! It looks amazing! I highly recommend the Lopesan hotels in general. The Villa Del Conde...
Read moreWe are quite dissatisfied with our stay at this hotel and this was below all expectations. On Apollos pages, they state that this is a 5+ luxury hotel, which in our head means that the service, standard and food must be at the top level, but unfortunately this was not the like described.
Let me start with positive things
Pleasant staff in restaurants and bars, we are particularly pleased with the service of Fransisco, Diego and Valentina. We got help with carrying luggage as soon as we got off the transfer bus Our daughter received a teddy bear at check-in The water temperature in the heated pools was as promised and the water was clean in the large pools Perfectly decent sunbeds, but not the best we've had at 5+ stars The cleaning of the room improved significantly after complaining in the first week Large rooms and very good beds in standard rooms Large area, enough sunbeds for everyone, it's good not to have to fight about this :)
Negative things
Arrogant, unprofessional and rude guest relationship lady Yanira Poor wifi signal in the rooms and no signal in the hallway in the standard room and in the bathroom, no signal in the bathroom in the unique suite The food quality and variety of the food is not 5+ standard level, applies to the buffet restaurant and bars The pool area is worn, the sand by the pool is dirty, a lot of praying on Maspalomas beach which is free for all The children's pool did not have any warmer water than in the other pools Apollo never stated that the entrance to the spa was extra, it cost 35 euros to enter Poor maintenance of the rooms, we had flooding in room 1115 and two covers in the room fell off Screen casting from iphone to tv didn't work, the hotel said it only works from android which is just nonsense The children's club was only open a few days a week and only a few hours Poor selection of drinks in bars, they couldn't make Pina Colada or Sex on the beach Only Spanish and German TV channels The food selection in the snack bar was far too poor and low quality, the drinks at the unique pool bar were completely ridiculous, not cold and tasted bad The playground was very old, dirty and worn out Dirty children's chairs in the restaurant Better quality of bed and room in standard room vs unique suite, much brighter in standard room vs unique suite, AC in unique suite was old and without digital panel and in general room standard was much worse Missing ramp several places in the hotel area Very poor insulation in the rooms, a lot of noise from outside No allergy descriptions in some places and they often lacked signs describing food dishes in the buffet restaurant The a la carte restaurant was closed several evenings Very long queues to eat at the buffet restaurant and have to pick up food, the meat was often cold and there was often a lack of food, so you had to give notice and wait a long time to get something more The water for dinner cost around 2.80 euros for 0.5 litres, the wine was far too expensive, only one type spanish beer - Tropicana , no San Miguel The luxury sunbeds with a sea view cost around 130 euros The hotel did not check simple things like working light bulbs and safes before delivering a room to guests and it took a long time to fix it, applies to worm 1128. All in all, a large hotel with a wow look when you first arrive and partially nice people, but with many annoying e.g lacks and lacks. Definitely NOT the 5+ luxury hotel that Apollo is trying to sell to people, either in terms of service, food or facilities, as it shows signs of age and lacks maintenance. You can't call this a 5+ luxury hotel just because they have lots of pools and a spa where you have to pay to enter. Apollo markets the hotel in a sly way that makes people think they are actually coming to a luxury hotel and does not inform well enough about the hotel's actually extra costs. I have already sent a claim to head office and Apollo to get 50%...
Read moreWhat a truly Grand and Spacious Resort set in an idyllic spot. We were allocated room 2208. Our Rooms balcony was adjacent to the Relax Pool Area (marked 08 on the Villa Del Conde Map) given to us at check-in. This was the very quiet area of the Resort. Saw automated pool cleaning machine in action, fantastic. I had the whole spotless pool to myself early mornings. Outdoor cleanliness was remarkable. Even saw a motorised driven leaf vacuum machine. The grounds were full of magnificent Birds. The Eurasian hoopoe was the winner. The magnificent flora was a great credit to the efforts of the unspoken army of gardeners who maintain the gardens immaculately, a big well done. Captured some fabulous shots with my camera and my Phone, have attached a few. The Tennis court has a 18 euros an hour charge, not mentioned anywhere in the hotels prebooking particulars, this was in very poor taste and needs addressing. The 2 balls for table tennis went missing after 2 days. Daily evening performance by talented Artists, some glamorous, took place in the open area called La Plaza (marked 22) immediately outside the dinner buffet restaurant La Plaza (marked 13) which was very convenient. Unfortunately the seating cushions were missing most days and the metal surfaces of chair sticky, did notice the cushions were finally present on the day of the Circus act. Special Thanks: +We mostly sat at table 90/91 and were waited upon by the very charming and capable Javier with impeccable etiquette and professionalism. +Thank you to the restaurants manager for taking note of my specific ingredients/instructions for my Omelette which was cooked and brought daily to my table automatically, that was a lovely touch. +My favourite fruit was freshly sliced mangoes, perfection. +Thank you to the chef who used you give me mini bonnet red chilies/freshly sliced coriander. I used that in my soup, made it more exciting. It proved very difficult to decipher vegetarian dishes for my family as not clearly labelled/had signs missing. They unknowingly picked Lyonnaise Potatoes with pork, black cooked rice with seafood, pizza with bacon, not good, I managed to stop them from consuming it. The hotel chain can become proactive and introduce a vegetarian/vegan only section. +Laura doing night shift at reception-very helpful-advised me of the best place to view sunrise from (near the lighthouse). Was able to reserve a complimentary room to refresh ourselves for 30-minute before our departure transport arrived, which left us feeling rejuvenated. Please do read all the additional information I have left after this review that will help you make informed decisions. Now finally, this is a Very important note for the Group CEO, Francisco López The Lopesan Villa del Concorde Resort has 561 rooms. The towel heated rail in the bathroom is permanently on. I would guess it uses 2 kWh of electricity. Replace the blanking plate with an ON/OFF switch, so the towel rail is only used when the guests need it. Also in the summer, this towel rail is belting out heat continuously and the bathroom heats up unnecessarily, definitely not a cooling experience in the summer months if you are in the toilet/bidet section of the bathroom. Keeping in mind you have 7000 rooms in 4 countries: -2kW radiator x 7000 rooms x 24 hours x 365 days in year = equates to 122,640,000 kW every year used by the heated rail, totally unnecessary expenditure. Keeping in mind when the radiators are actually needed, can you just calculate the enormous financial savings that your organisation will make! Once you have successfully made these big savings, by introducing the On/Off switches, you can reward my family & I by inviting us as your special guest at your resort for a complimentary Family holiday for 4. Now it of your turn to make it a reality and do you part to reduce energy usage and help save our planet. You know it makes sense and cost saving is always welcome by shareholders and financial...
