This restaurant was one of the ones we were really looking forward to on our visit to Gran Canaria as it was selected by my daughter however we left feeling very disappointed. Upon being seated the first thing I noticed was how quiet it was, the music playing wasn’t overly loud but was spoiled by a poor setup which kept slowing down and speeding up (trivial I know but highly irritating). This should have been a really decent place to see the sun go down but the view was marred by how dirty the windows (?) were. With regards to the service, maybe I’m being naive but being a tourist hotspot it would be an idea if the waiters spoke and understood better English as it certainly made for a challenging evening. First we ordered drinks (including a couple of cocktails that were seriously bulked out with ice). Next we ordered our starters and when they came out looked decent, however they forgot my wife’s so sadly we’d finished by the time hers came out. Taste wise everything was very nice. Then for the mains, took 35 minutes after the starters to come out and all in all a bit of a let down, nothing wrong with the quality of food but again service was nowhere near what it should have been (example being my wife ordered the Sea Bream and was assured it came with vegetables and salad but came with nothing). I ordered the beef but sadly didn’t come out until the rest of family had pretty much finished, to top it off it was almost cold as well. When we got the bill we we asked by a lady (could have been the manager, not sure) if everything was OK we explained how poorly it went and while she was quite apologetic it just seemed like lip service, she did offer us a bottle of water (wow) for her efforts. To sum up a pretty poor experience only saved slightly by how nice most of the food was, for reference I don’t see what all the hype was about, as I said to my daughter not everything you see on TikTok is gospel,...
Read moreThis is a long review. It started well with offer of a drink quite quick. Sadly no menu just a qr code. Ordered just one starter of raw tuna for the 2 of s ( euro17) and in fairness it was ample for 2 (too much for one) . Ordered mains of golden fish in curry sauce and a steak. Told there may be a bit of a wait by waiter but we said no problem. That was a mistake! No drink service after ths. Whilst waiting spoke to couple by us who were only waiting for a main and they had been there for an hour. Starter arrived ( raw tuna) and very nice indeed,) . Then priblem started - after we had starter we were told no golden fish in curry sauce available (should have said when we arrived) only more tuna or salmon. Salmon Ordered as already had tuna. (They couldnt do the salmon in the curry sauce!) After another 30 mins asked how long and was assurred 5 minutes. 25 minutes later my wife queried this and was told she was being rude! Waiter quite aggressive and we thought seriously about leaving at this point.Anyway food came - salmon overdone but On a nice bed of mashed sweet potato with lovely walnuts. Steak arrived medium as ordered - literally on its own on a banana leaf. Chips came 5 mins later. Steak cooked well and rested but barely warm. In fairness chips were freshly cut and lovely. Service bad so happy to get out at end (should have gone after starter) they knocked initial drink off bill to compensate but no real apology. (People next to us as mentioned before had extra wine and beer and water added to their bill which after a debate was ultimately knocked off) Overall a poor exprrience- pop down to ground level of this complex and eat fresh fish/pasta/pizza etc faultless...
Read moreTribu Meloneras is a beautifully designed restaurant with a great ambiance and delicious food.
However, the service left much to be desired.
From the start, we were not offered a drinks menu, and no one asked what we would like to drink. When we finally requested one, the waiter seemed reluctant and instead asked, “What do you want, for example?”—which felt unwelcoming.
When it was time to pay, the bill was simply placed on our table without any interaction or inquiry about our preferred payment method. We had to call the staff to ask about card payment, and even then, the waiter didn’t acknowledge us and returned after 10 minutes with the card reader.
Throughout our visit, the three waitresses working that evening looked visibly unhappy and disengaged, which was quite disappointing. The lack of enthusiasm and hospitality took away from what could have been a fantastic dining experience.
Overall, Tribu Meloneras has great potential, thanks to its lovely atmosphere and good food. However, the service needs significant improvement to match the quality of the restaurant. Hopefully, they work on their staff’s attitude to provide a more welcoming experience for...
