I booked with Hostal Florida for 2 nights in April 2015, I research for accomodation on line,I email to verify date & availability.then pick up the phone & speak with the reservation desk to secure the reservation, in some cases my Visa is used to secure my stay, In this case the room was booked & paid for by Visa, which was fine. I always bring my email exchanges & Visa statements with me as proof of payment. When I got to the Hostal Florida In Seville the owner disputed my reservation-- that I had no reservation, even with the email exhanges & Visa bill payment being presented to him. I am 62yrs of age not 26, & I have travelled solo & with others extensively. I stood my ground. The owner then had the young man at the desk show me a room which was about a block away, the young man disappeared quickly once he opened the door to show me this room. Within a moment I realized this room had no windows & was extremely small, not much bigger than a janitor's closet. I threw my backpack down, locked the door & ran back to the main Hostal Florida where I confronted the owner. I informed him that this is NOT good business practise, that this would be reported to Trip Advisor. He tried to again to dispute the email exchanges, the phone call to secure the room by Visa, & the payment evident by my Visa statement, I stood my groundI "I am not going away". Finally he conceeded & showed me lovely room on the top floor, with windows!! PLEASE read the Trip Advisor reviews that all sound very much like mine, this owner is very...
Read moreFirst when we arrived they didn’t know we were 2... the reservation was registered only for 1 person in their computer... but fortunately for us we had the email saying it was for 2... so they didnt have any room for 2 left! Soooo they gave us the first room available on ground floor for disabled persons. Before entering the room the girl from the reception said “I’m not sure you’re going to like the room” |When you open the door you must first be a little fit! the door doesnt open completely because of the bed, on each side of the bed you have like 30 cm to move, the tv is the size of an ipad screen.. you have 2 windows unreachables because they were too high! To go to the bathroom you have to be short otherwise you will hurt your head every time you want to pee!... we didn’t undo the bed to sleep but kept our clothes and covered ourselves with the old blanket they had! |Oh and also the windows was giving “view” and ears” on the amazing reception on which we had the pleasure to listen every conversation of the night! After a loooong night without sleeping we decided not to stay the second night and we wanted our money back... and obviously they refused to give it to us... thanks to tripadvisor we found a 4 stars hotel in the center for only 20€ more... and there were no doubt about going...
Read moreWe had problems since we arrived. A couple of days before arriving we called the hostel to change a double room into a triple room, they told us no problem and also that our stay would be cheaper. When we arrived they had the old room and when we told them about the changes we made. They agreed to change the room but they would charge us 30 euro more. We explained that we called ahead and they told us that they had an intern that was very bad and probably didn't save the changes and that it was his fault not theirs, and that they would continue to charge us more. They even tried to blame it on us saying that we should have sent an e-mail instead of calling. When we agreed to pay the price it turned out that the card I made the reservation with (AMEX) wasn't accepted there and that I should pay in cash. No one sent me an e-mail telling me that and on the page I booked the room (booking.com) accepted the card inmediately. I had to search for an ATM to pay. When we arrived to the room it was ok, except for the fact that my bed sheets were stained!! ||The only good thing I can tell about this place is...
