First ever bait-and-switch in my travel experience. Do not stay here. Service is lousy and there are much better venues in the Barrio Santa Cruz at reasonable prices.||||In July booked 1 night for late September. Even got an e-mail day before arrival asking what time would I arrive. Arrived in afternoon by taxi from train station. When I showed up the hotel was gutted and under complete renovation - all rooms closed. There was a paper taped to outside wall with my name and an alternative address and a number to call. ||||||Taxi took me to this alternate location, nearly all the way back at the train station - far from the Barrio Santa Cruz where I was supposed to stay to walk through the charming little streets. ||||Manager of the switch hotel invited us but I conveyed in broken Spanish that this was not the hotel nor the neighborhood I booked so I would not stay and requested a refund. He sent for a teenager who spoke English to come and help him. I again conveyed I would not say and requested a refund. ||||They both became quite aggressive and the older man knocked my wife's phone out of her hand and nearly hit her in the face when she tried to take a phot of the switch hotel (Hotel Sevilla Santa Justa). They were verbally abusive and physically threatening. Cab driver said it wasn't worth it in the end to get back $62 Euros - but after an hour of delay and stalling they refunded in full.||||Worst customer service I have ever had at a hotel, a clear bait and switch (they were gutting the hotel, not fixing the plumbing). There are plenty of afforable and lovely places in Barrio Santa Cruz - avoid this one...
Read moreI deliberately booked a hostel because I was traveling by myself and wanted to meet other people. The only people I met was the cleaning woman and the desk clerk/manager. There is no common area whatsoever. The rooms are small, basic, and clean. Everything is electronic - 2 codes to get into the front door and the same code to get into your room. I reserved through Booking and arrived to find the front door locked. I tried calling the phone number listed on my reservation, but no one answered. The desk person at the hotel around the corner called another number that she had and the manager appeared about 10 minutes later. He said he had texted the code to my husband's cell, but he never received it (I listed my husband's phone # because I didn't know what my temporary Vodafone # would be). The location is great - just off a main street (no noise inside the unit) and near several restaurants and the...
Read moreThey don't have 24 hours reception, we waited till 10.30am only the receptionist came to work. Despite letting us check in earlier, we were given room 001, which is located on the ground floor, just RIGHT BESIDE the main entrance. The wall between our bed and the main door is thin like paper. So basically, whenever anyone entered the hostal, the door was bang so loudly, and there were 2 doors, so you were awake twice each time when people came in. It's so loud just like you were sleeping beside the door, totally a disaster! I was ill and requested to change to another room but the receptionist told me it's full. This room is totally not fit for occupancy and shouldnt be rented out in the first place. For €135 euro paid per night, it was totally...
