A beautiful building in an ideal location. You are a few steps away from the old town of Valencia but it is so quiet you cold be in the countryside.||All the big pluses:|Friendly, helpful and attentive staff.|Chic, trendy reception/ bar area, with touches of antiquity!|Spacious, elegant rooms and a very comfortable bed. Room was a bit dark.|An actual top sheet!! Most hotels have forgotten they exist. And a lighter doona (duvet) that doesn’t necessitate you turn the aircon to arctic temperatures. ✔️|A bottle of fizz and some delicious morsels on arrival.|A mini bar (sans alcohol) that is refreshed daily.|Showers that are straightforward to operate, yes! Lights too.✔️|Lovely large fluffy towels and bathrobes. And a real bath, which I know some people love.||Some small negatives |Could we have some conditioner in the shower?|A waste paper basket in the room would be very helpful.|Good quality toilet paper please, not the same as you’d find in public conveniences. You’d soon recover the cost in the amount being used!|I know all the kind staff will bring to your room any beverage you desire , at the press of a telephone button, but actually first thing of a morning, I want to make my own. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room, please.||Overall, a great place to stay. Highly recommended.||However, DO NOT use the transfer services which the hotel will recommend to you via an email before you arrive, particularly if you are arriving by train. I was left stranded at the station because my train was late. And, even worse, I was not given a refund.. The taxi I got instead was less than half the price. You...
Read moreSERVICE: We stayed here for a week and couldn't have had a better time! The staff were fantastic - attentive, friendly and always on hand to help, they really made it a special experience. I celebrated my birthday during my stay and they were kind enough to leave a card, a dessert treat and a small bottle of champagne. Lastly, I love that the hotel is small as well which makes it a more personalised experience.
FOOD: We had breakfast every morning and it was always great, after a while the waitress started to remember our orders! There's a small and standard buffet but you can order extras such as porridge, eggs, sausages etc.
LOCATION: I was hesitant to book this hotel because it seemed secluded and I was worried it would be hard to get to places. I was wrong! It's so easy to walk anywhere and you're stones throw away from the centre with lots of restaurants etc but the benefit is it's on a quiet road so there's no noise - perfect balance!
ROOMS: The bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on and I liked the fact the showers are separate from the bath itself. Everything was fine with the room but be aware there aren't any kettles in them so if you love tea before bed like me then you've got to ask for a kettle which they readily give to you. The same goes for an iron. The only small thing is that I would have loved just one or two more lights in the room so we could see around the bed area at night better.
In summary, I will definitely stay at Caro Hotel again. If you're staying in Valencia I highly highly recommend...
Read moreWe absolutely adored our stay at Caro Hotel. We were promptly greeted by the staff and offered water and/or coffee. We were given a map and a quick tour of the old city to gain our bearings. Check-in was easy and simple, and our room was ready 2 hours before official check-in time.
Our room itself was amazing. We stayed in room #15, the Arab Tower, which had the bed in the loft area. Something to consider if you do not want to navigate a flight of stairs in the middle of the night to gain access to the toilet.
No amenities were spared in the room. The free mini-bar included an assortment of drinks and snacks that were refreshed daily. And the bath products were plentiful, including a cute, little wooden hair brush.
The staff was always willing to help with directions or advice. They recommended a local restaurant and made reservations for us as well (and it ended up being my husband’s favorite meal of our whole trip). They were always willing to refill our water bottles with cold water or make us an espresso or cappuccino.
As with any hotels in any city, noise can be problematic. We did not experience this with our particular room, but one side of our room did abut a school, which I image could be loud during the week or school hours. As always, we travel with a sound machine to drown out street noise.
Loved the location of the hotel in the Old City and our experience here. I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering staying...
