Rent Bike Virgen — Local services in Valencia

Review for middle of October 2023:

Found by mistake, initially fiddled around to understand the "competition" and what else is out there. Clearly the guys here worked their magic on my wife (joking) and we came back here to rent : 2 bikes, hop on chair for up to 25 kilos kid & helmet. Also being first rental you could opt for the 4h instead of a full day. Family trip was awesome!

I was aiming for a tandem/4 wheeler bike to stroll the city (never seen one, so it appears here they are not familiar here as in Vienna)

Standard bikes (read as non electrified) come with locks and are in great condition (ringer, brakes, basket to carry things). The price was fair and the guys that work there were really friendly. Would definitely come back and a definite recommend!

I really appreciated: contract signing (fast) on tablet, send out via email, payment accepted by card also contactless or tap to pay.

Valencia has a lot of bike lanes to offer and easily a 4h rental in insufficient. Some tips: -before renting be sure to have been recently fed and have a large bottle of water with you. Calories expenditure could be quite high. invest some time to explore where you could go ahead (as recommendation for owners have 5-6 photos explaining the tourist some notable landmarks. I really enjoyed biking around the buildings of City of Arts and close to Biopark with the lake. -have sunscreen with you.

Our experience with Virgen was a bit disappointing. Check-in was easy and the bikes looked solid, but just to be sure we paid the insurance costs so that in case of a flat tire, we could call the company and they would come to us and fix the issue in the spot.

Unfortunately, we did get a flat tire during our ride. We tried calling several times but couldn’t get through to anyone, so we had to walk the bikes back to the shop (about 35 minutes), which wasn’t great.

When we explained what happened, the staff didn’t seem too bothered. The friendly senior staff we first spoke to during check-in disappeared, and instead, a very young boy came out with a postcard as an apology. While the gesture was ok, it didn’t really feel like they took the situation seriously. A proper apology from the senior staff and maybe a refund for the insurance would’ve made a big difference. Hopefully, they improve their customer service for future customers.

Update: The owner personally reached out to us yesterday to apologize and offered a way to make things right. We’re not looking for a refund, we just really appreciated the...

What can I say ... You guys are the BEST! We are always happy to come back to you! Thank you for your kindness, it's always a pleasure to see you! Your bikes are absolutely perfect and beautiful, well equipped, safe and everything is done to the satisfaction of the customers. An additional basket or lock... everything is possible and will not be charged separately. The cordiality is exemplary and cannot be compared with others. And of course the super service, everyone gets his favourite bike. It's specially selected for each individual. You can also buy all tickets directly in the shop, so easy and you don't have to queue. Really great! Valencia is a great cycling city, be sure to discover the wonders of VLC by bike and book a bike tour with @bikeguyvlc too, that's really a great thing! Absolutely recommend all of you!
