My husband and I found this intimate place four minutes from our flat on Gmaps. The first thing I realized was, this is a One Grandma Show. She welcomes you, walks you to a table, ask for your drink and food, prepares it for you, serves it, and goes on the next table. All on her own.
From what I have read on the comments, a lot of people had been considerate and respectful of this and I am grateful. She readily smiles and even if she is sweating bullets, she is always cordial and welcoming.
Grandma's cooking is fantastic. I ordered the clams and codfish with a white fish sauce with green peas. It was delicious. The spinach lasagna is another heartwarming dish. The ground lamb with mediterranean spices wrapped in phylo like an embutido was out of this world. The chicken in tarragon was delicious.
I am trying to know grandma a little bit more, I want to help make her restaurant much easier to move around. She mentioned that she is open for another person to help but her kitchen is way too small. I agree.
So when you visit this intimate place for dinner for the first time, be cognizant that this is a one grandma show - who would melt your heart with her delicious food. Be patient, and enjoy the show.
As you approach the restaurant, you will see that someone spray painted a not so welcoming sign on the wall. Someone who knew her, or who lived nearby changed it into a heartwarming sign. A true sign of community. I will let you check it...
Read moreSeafood Paella (Paella de Marisco) 32 € (for two) ★★★★★ Best. Freaking. Ever. The rice was perfectly cooked, with seasoning that struck a flawless balance—not too salty, not bland. The seafood was unbelievably fresh—one bite into the shrimp and I was blown away. I would 100% travel back to Valencia just to eat here again.
Patatas Bravas (Chili Potatoes) 8 € ★★★★☆ Freshly fried and served hot. The chili spice was nicely balanced, making it a solid starter to open the meal.
Sangria 3 € ★★★☆☆ Decent, but nothing special. Could’ve been better with more fruit and depth in flavor.
Cheesecake with Mixed Berry Sauce 5 € ★★★☆☆ The cheesecake itself was average, but the refreshing berry sauce helped tie it together nicely.
The lady was very friendly and spoke a bit of English, which helped a lot. The interior was cozy and nicely done—overall a warm and pleasant...
Read moreI tried several paella places in Valencia, and unfortunately, this one did not meet my expectations.
In terms of taste, the flavors were good, though not the best I’ve had. However, my biggest issue was the portion size. There was very little meat, mostly bony chicken parts, and not much rice either. Despite not being particularly hungry when I arrived, the meal left me far from satisfied. For the price, I expected significantly more in terms of both quality and quantity.
On a positive note, the lady working here was very sweet, which I truly appreciated. However, despite the kind service, I personally do not find this place worth it. I have enjoyed better paella in Valencia for...
