I’m still feeling less comfortable to go to a diner in Valencia sometimes. I mean in the U.S. when I wait at the reception table, there is always someone come to greet and lead the way. But here, it could take me 10+ minutes waiting outside without any waiter or waitress greeting. They seem very busy, walking in and out, serving tables. So I guess maybe I should wait for a few more minutes. But, the result is always disappointing. I would appreciate if any local Spaniard could tell me what I should do. Is it polite to just walk in and ask for a table? Well, this is the story happened before I went into daVida. I waited for quite a while in another diner nearby with no one coming up to me. So I quitted and walked in this place. And I’m glad I made the right choice. The waitress is very cheerful and friendly. Actually all of the staff are. I can feel their happiness through their talks and their food. The food is great. The chicken breast is awesome, tender and rich in flavor. The chocolate crepes, oh I love it! I find there are a lot of pics of the tapas but no menu del día. So I took a pic of it for...
Read moreDAVIDA Tapas Bar is a lovely little spot right in the heart of Valencia. While wandering through one of the city's many charming squares, we stumbled upon this place and decided to rest our feet and grab a bite. We ordered a few tapas and a glass of beer each (we were thirsty, and we had already had some wine earlier in the day). Now, I have to pause here and say—Spanish wine? Absolutely fantastic. Every single one we tried, whether it cost 6 euros or 20 (we didn’t go fancier—why bother?), was top notch.
Back to Davida. The tapas were delicious, the vibe was super relaxed, and the staff? Just great. There’s a Colombian, a Ukrainian chef, and an Argentinean behind the bar—basically the United Nations of good service. They’re all incredibly friendly and fun to chat with.
If you ever find yourself strolling through central Valencia, look out for this cozy little bar. Order a few tapas, sip some wine, and just enjoy life. Trust me, your taste buds...
Read moreYou have to try their coffee with oat milk. As a non coffee drinker before moving to Spain it changed my mind about coffee. We have been lucky to find a chef at Davida's that can modify lunches to our particular tastes and on occasion make his famous lentil soup. They also offer purified/filtered water in their own branded reusable bottles for 2 euros. For people concerned about all of the plastics in the environment this greatly helps reduce the use of disposable plastic bottles. Overall a very nice neighborhood...
