We have previously stayed at Mansion de Lucy, which is great. This year we stayed at Colorado Creek. It's in the Far West area, area up the hill pass Lucy de Mansion. It has direct access to Portaventura theme park. There are no supermarkets nearby and we did have to buy water from the small shop in the River Gold hotel, which is expensive. ||The transfer is approximate 20 minutes from Reus airport. We arrived in the morning, checked in and were given our room/theme park cards. As we were trying to open the door to the hotel a member of staff pushed passed my daughter. We we were struggling to get through the doors with our suitcases. I told him he was rude. The woman who checked us in gave very us little information and I had to ask a lot of questions eg, where is the store for the cases. When we went to leave our cases the member of staff walked away. Some of the staff in the hotel are friendly some are not.||The hotel looks nice and is clean. There are toilets by the suitcase store area. There is a snack bar serving pizza and other snacks. When we went there there was only one member of staff to serve and to cook the food. The queue was long.||We booked a superior room. They do not offer express passes any more. I'm not sure what is the difference between the deluxe and superior rooms. We were given two bottles of water. No robes as stated on the website. The room was in the main hotel. ||The rooms are a good size and the air con works well. The wardrobe area is a good size however you only get 5 coat hangers. There is a safe and a small fridge. The are two usb sockets and normal sockets by the beds. The wifi works well. There is shampoo, shower gel and hand wash. You are given two tiny toilets rolls and there are two hand towels. We were only given two small bath towels. I had to ask twice for more.|The room is very clean however the shower trim and shower head on the hand held shower was dirty. The grout on the tiles was dirty in places too.||We were out most mornings, resting in the afternoons, then back out again. We only had house keeping twice. I went out and took what we needed from the trolleys in the corridors eg, toilet paper, towels.||Generally, the hotel is quiet at nights. I don't understand why parents allow their children to run up and down the corridors when it is late.||The restaurant is in a separate building around the back. Some of the staff are lovely while some look miserable. We ate breakfast and dinner here. There is a good choice of foods and they cater for dietary needs.||For breakfast there is sliced bread to toast, fresh baguettes, choice of fruit and cereal, bacon, hash browns and small pancakes. Water, tea, coffee and juices. Butter and jams. The fruit is lovely.||At night there was normally ham or margherita pizza, pasta, sushi different meats, chips, chicken balls, a choice of vegetables and fruit. Lots of puddings. It was nice and we were never hungry. You pay for any drinks you want. There is water on the table. The restaurant wasn't too busy.||You have to book breakfast but not dinner. I booked for both. We were half board so didnt use the dine around option.||We ate our lunch park most days in the park or at the River Bar in the area we were staying. This has more choice than last year. You can sit in or take out. The food and staff we lovely. The pool is to the side. In the park we loved Jeremias', Far West. They have a choice of pizza and pasta. They do chips and have a choice of fruits and puddings. The staff are very friendly.||We love this park. The rides are great and there is a good choice of food and places, and shows to relax. The main reason we stay onsite is the easy access to the park, through to the Wild West. You get unlimited entry to the park and one day in Ferrariland.||We did get ride access for my daughter. All we needed was her diagnosis letter, for autism. They didn't seem bothered about her other physical needs. We had to show her passport as well. You get a band each however the barcode washed off and the band broke a few times. We had to go back to guest services inside the park near the entrance to get a new one. When the whole band had came off we had to show her letter and passport again. I think they need a plastic band that doesn't wash off or break.||Some of the staff in the park are lovely and some are quite rude and roll their eyes. However, we love going to the park and enjoyed Ferrariland this year. We didn't explore it much last time. It's not a huge park but is worth the visit.||We didn't to the waterparks this year as my daughter has sore skin. ||On the way home the coach transfer didn't pick us up until 5.30pm. He had to pick up from 3 other hotels and at one hotel he waited 10 minutes and the people didn't turn up. By the time we got there and got through to the departure part. I was hungry and needed to eat. The queue for the hot food was huge with only two staff making and serving food. Then Jet 2 announced they were boarding early. So we had to eat very quickly. Next time I'll get a taxi to go there earlier.||I am a type 1 diabetic with the omnipod 5 and dexcom g6. The staff at Newcastle and Reus airports were great. I used the special line to get through security slightly quicker at Reus as I needed to eat. Jet 2 allow a free medical bag.||We did used taxis to go to the sea front. There is a taxi rank near the Rock and Grill bar, look for the Woody Wood Pecker statue. There are toilets nearby. There is plenty of toilets, lots of shops including Druni which sells cheaper perfume and make-up and lots of restaurants. The beach looks lovely and there are some small play parks. We will try the bus next time. I was told they are easy to use and cheap.||We also took a taxi to the shopping centre, Centre Commercial Parc. A 15 minute drive approximately. There are plenty of shops like Bershka, Druni and Primark. There is a supermarket, where we bought bottled water. The taxis charge different rates.||We probably would stay here again as there is easy access to the park, you get free passes to the park and the food options are good. Use the app to check opening/closing times of the park, rides and places to eat. Love Salou and we will be back to explore...
Read moreColorado Creek is a new four star hotel within the Port Aventura resort in eastern Spain, and has an American National Park Lodge theme throughout. Very well appointed and very comfortable with large rooms featuring air conditioning, a small refrigerator and all the usual amenities and facilities. We had a room on the ground floor in the main accommodation block, whilst our daughter and grandchildren shared an almost identical room on the first floor of the same block. There is at least one other accommodation block located a short distance from the main block, and a separate restaurant/buffet building is located between these two accommodation blocks. A large swimming pool lies beyond the restaurant building. We arrived by car and were able to park reasonably close to the hotel main entrance. It is possible to drive almost to the front door for drop off and baggage loading/unloading. A concierge service will also use an electric buggy to help move baggage to/from your car. Check-in was fast, easy and efficient face-to-face, and self-service check-in is also available from machines in the lobby or online. The hotel is situated reasonably close to the theme park's hotel guest entrance (10 minute walk), but far enough away so that noise from the park is not intrusive. We had breakfast in the adjoining restaurant building and found it to be excellent, catering for all tastes and requirements. The size of the hotel demands three 'sittings' for breakfast - at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 am. Booking a breakfast 'slot' via the hotel website is a requirement. It is possible to just turn up for breakfast, but Hotel staff will check whether or not you have booked that particular sitting, and may ask you to return at a later time if that slot is oversubscribed. Breakfast is buffet style with an enormous variety of food and drinks both hot and cold. We also had the dinner buffet on one of our two nights at the hotel and found similar arrangements as for breakfast, with sittings at 7:30, 8:45 and 10:00 pm. Again, the choice, variety and quality of food was excellent. For the dinner buffet, table water is provided at no extra charge, but other drinks can be ordered from table attendants and will be added to your bill. We chose to reserve a table at a restaurant within the theme park on our second night, but regretted that decision and wished we had chosen the dinner buffet again. Dinner buffet food selections are varied night to night, so repetition is unlikely to be a discouragement during a short stay. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Colorado Creek and would not hesitate to return...
Read moreNew hotel from the park ones. Looks great and you can see the amount of the investments - nice stylish lobby, spacious rooms, lush territory around, wide pool and big parking lot close by. But unfortunately people /staff/managing factor ruins it all. Starting from the simply unprofessional staff upon your arrival who instead of usual few minutes turns your check in (you can’t do it online if you didn’t book in advance) into 1 hour (who knows why since it wasn’t even crowded) + loss of time and nerves 😅🤦🏻♀️ accompanied by poor attention to some simple things like room cleanliness (not something particularly pleasant to find someone’s hair in the bathroom, shower and bed), functioning equipment in (we couldn’t even brush our teeth normally as water in the sink didn’t drain), and out (a broken pipe outside the window from which water flowed all night and morning, which during the period of special water control in Spain was quite surprising that no one even paid attention to, so I needed to point it out at the reception etc), cold stone floors and no even a simple sleepers /no hair condition (although gel and shampoo were good) etc - those things just good to know beforehand since you don’t expect in at EU in 4* hotel. Some staff members (like clearing ladies and one bell boy) though were super nice and attentive. If you are travelling along with a baby/child somehow it’s cheaper to book a room for 2 adults instead of 1 adult + 1 child (silly but it worked - park phone support lady kindly recommended me that and it really worked). But promised in description buffet breakfast which at the end wasn’t included in our room rate has special entry schedule which is not convenient as you need to wait around an hour for the next one if you didn’t enter in first line - didn’t see such thing anywhere in the world. As well as hotels parking - supposed to be free but at the entrance I was forced to pay 14€ (there are no one to ask only machine with no info button) and after 2 months and several emails they didn’t refund it (although they promised). Small things but make your impression - moreover you should be careful with your things - my baby’s sunglasses were stolen in the main lobby as we needed to climb the stairs to speak with the receptionist therefore left our stroller downstairs with some things in it covered but someone anyways took it. Tasty coffee at the pool cafe and pleasant helpful waiter. P.s. the closest to the entrance to the park hotel -...
