We stayed at this hotel for a few days during a 2 week visit to Srilanka. The staff are polite and extremely helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious and offer great views of the ocean. We are a family of 5 and had to ask for additional towels since the room only had 3 bath towels. Housekeeping brough us more towels but we had to ask again the next day after our room was cleaned. The staff were always happy to help though. Chanaka was the staff on our floor that cleaned our room and always checked with us to make sure we were good.||We recommend including breakfast with your room since there are Srilankan, South Indian and some Western options. Always good not to have to go out of the hotel and figure out breakfast first thing in the morning. They have stations for pancake/waffles, omlettes, hoppers, dosa as well as traditional buffet setups. The staff in the 1st floor dining area are friendly and are always looking to help and make sure you are comfortable and have what you need. They only had 1 self serve coffee machine and there was a short wait for coffee sometimes. The staff were attentive and remembered faces which was a nice touch. Chamod always came by when he saw us to make sure we were good.||The rooftop swimming pool is good and has great views of the ocean and the surrounding towns. There did not appear to be a lifeguard on duty and the wait staff from the bar kept an eye on things. The manager of the bar was attentive to all the guests and always checked in to make sure we had what we needed.| |During peak times, the check-in process can take longer than expected. The hotel anticipates this and they had anywhere from one to three staff at the reception depending on how busy it was. ||Moving around to and from the hotel is easy. There are autos(tuk tuk) waiting around and two train stations about a mile from the hotel in either direction. Galle road is also a short walk away and there are plenty of shops there.|Just be wary with auto drivers since they will try and sell you "tours" around Colombo. Always go with reputed tour companies and decline all offers from people that walk up to you. ||Majestic City and Marino Malls are a 30 minute walk away(shorter if you take an auto).||A few things they could improve on: We were only given one key card for our room and when we later asked for a second card, it disabled the first card and we had to keep going back. Not sure if the staff were aware of this when the second card was issued but they were always happy to help. |There are 3 elevators and during peak times, you could be waiting several minutes. Especially if there are people with their luggage trying to get to their floors or to the reception. The staff are helpful with the bags and will move them to your rooms if you ask but they're still using the same elevators. These elevators are also used by people trying to get to the rooftop bar that is open to the public, not just hotel guests.||Overall, this hotel offers really good value for money. It has the complete package...Clean, spacious, friendly staff, dining options, bar, pool and proximity to shopping and transportation options. While there is always room for improvement, you can tell they go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant. We will definitely consider them for...
Read moreExtremely Disappointed – Not What You’d Expect from a Radisson!
We had high expectations from Radisson Colombo, given the brand's global reputation. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of disastrous.
We checked in late around 9 PM and were given two corner rooms on the 11th floor (rooms 1114 and 1115, if I recall correctly), right next to the fire exit. One of the rooms had a wet, stinking carpet near the bathroom the moment we walked in. The centralized AC system didn’t seem to be working properly either—the room remained uncomfortably warm.
Despite being exhausted from our travels, we had to call the reception multiple times starting around 11 PM to request a room change. After much back-and-forth and repeated explanations, we were finally shifted to two rooms on the 9th floor—at midnight. Having to move rooms that late was frustrating and exhausting.
Unfortunately, things didn’t improve. The new rooms had blue towels with visible stains and a foul smell. The hand shower was half-broken, and the toilet seat was damaged. The overall room maintenance was far below acceptable standards. Even for basic housekeeping requests like fresh towels or napkins, we had to call multiple times and constantly follow up—the service was unresponsive and slow. The rooms are extremely compact, claustrophobic and we had to join 2 beds to make room to walk around.
As for breakfast, the spread was decent in variety, but the service was shockingly poor. At 8 AM (with breakfast hours running until 10 AM), the aloo paratha was already finished, and we were told it wouldn’t be replenished. That’s unacceptable for a hotel buffet. There were no coffee mugs available, and even after repeated requests, none were provided. We eventually gave up on having coffee altogether. Clearing of used plates and general attentiveness in the dining area was severely lacking.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We expected Radisson Colombo to match the high standards of Radisson properties in India, which are known for their luxury and impeccable service. Unfortunately, this stay fell far below those standards. Radisson should seriously reevaluate the management and service quality at...
Read moreWe stayed at Radisson Colombo for 5 days from 27 to 2 nd jan 2025. with our 12-year-old daughter. While the hotel had some positive aspects, we faced several issues that significantly affected our experience.
One evening, we got stuck in the lift for over 20 minutes. To our shock, there was no emergency number in the lift to call for immediate assistance. When we tried contacting the reception, the call was routed to the booking department, and it kept getting disconnected. It was an incredibly stressful situation, especially with our child in the lift.
Fortunately, our friend, who wasn’t with us at the time, went to the reception desk and informed them. Only then did the receptionist act promptly. We sincerely appreciate his efficient and courteous handling of the situation, but the lack of a proper emergency response system is a major safety concern.
Additionally, we noticed that our room was not cleaned every day, which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard. After a long day out, returning to an unclean room was far from ideal.
We strongly recommend the management address these issues: Ensure emergency numbers are clearly displayed in all lifts, and calls from the lift go directly to a response team. Improve housekeeping services to ensure rooms are cleaned daily without needing repeated reminders.
While there were some positive moments during our stay, these problems overshadowed our overall experience and left us feeling concerned about safety and...
