Marine Spice — Restaurant in Colombo

At Marine Spice restaurant on the final day of my holiday to Sri Lanka, I’ve seem to have discovered a hidden culinary gem. Located in a prime spot, this restaurant left an indelible mark on my journey, and it’s no wonder awarded it a perfect 5-star rating.

The food, undoubtedly the highlight of my visit, impressed on multiple levels. The dum mutton biryani stood out as a clear favorite. It must have been a treat to savor the tender, flavorful mutton, perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. Alongside this, the Tom Yum soup offered a delightful contrast—bold, aromatic, and impeccably balanced. It's clear that both dishes showcased not only the skill of the chefs but also the quality of the ingredients, making every bite memorable.

Marine Spice's commitment to providing exceptional service did not go unnoticed. From the moment I arrived, even late in the evening, the staff ensured that you felt welcomed and taken care of. Their attentiveness, combined with a spotless environment, enhanced your dining experience, allowing you to focus solely on the fantastic food. Even the seats were so unique and comfortable a mini sofa for each individual.

The value for money here is remarkable, especially considering you compared the flavors to those of Michelin-starred restaurants. It's not every day you find such a high-caliber dining experience at a reasonable price point, especially when traveling. This blend of quality and affordability is truly what makes Marine Spice a standout spot.

Given my experiences dining in the UK, it’s high praise indeed that to have found this to be the best food you’ve had during my stay in Sri Lanka.

If I ever find yourself back in Sri Lanka, it sounds like a return visit would be well worth it!...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marine Spice Restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was comfortable and enjoyable.

Food: The food at Marine Spice was truly remarkable. I ordered a variety of dishes to sample their menu:

Chicken Nasi Goreng: This dish was an absolute delight. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the blend of flavors was spot on. The chicken was tender and seasoned to perfection, making every bite a pleasure.

Arab Chicken Shawarma: The shawarma was succulent and full of rich, authentic flavors. The balance of spices was impeccable, and the accompanying sauces elevated the dish even further.

Chicken Patty Burger: The burger was a standout. The patty was juicy and well-seasoned, nestled between fresh, crisp vegetables and a perfectly toasted bun. Each bite was bursting with flavor, making it a satisfying choice for burger lovers.

Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani: This biryani was the highlight of the meal. The aromatic rice was cooked to perfection, infused with a medley of spices that complemented the tender chicken pieces beautifully. It was a hearty and fulfilling dish that showcased the culinary expertise of the kitchen.

Service: The service at Marine Spice was superb. The staff were courteous, prompt, and always ready to assist with a smile. They made sure our needs were met without being intrusive, adding to the overall positive...

Good times and good food at “Marine Spice” Colombo ♥️

We’ve visited this NEW restaurant last weekend 18/11/2023.

We’ve ordered their mixed Nasi Goreng (recommended y the staff), devilled beef and chicken dum biriyani as for food and my friends ordered mango lassi as per usual.

Mixed Nasi Goreng:

It was too much salty for me and I couldn’t eat it for more than two bites; but I thought that’s because I usually eat less salt. However all my friends commented it being too salty.

There’s a significant amount of prawns included in this Nasi Goreng and they were very generous with that.

I couldn’t find any other meat such as chicken or beef in it.

Devilled beef:

A very delicious dish around 150gm of beef in it. It was the star of the show.

Chicken dum biriyani:

This one tasted ok for me but my friend who ordered this loved it! You will get a very generous amount of biriyani and chicken.

Mango lassi:

A good, thick, mango lassi with right amount of sugar.

• seating: the seats were very comfy and clean. The corner round tables are perfect for a smaller friends group.

• washroom: it’s clean but a little bit of unpleasant smell was detected. May be due to poor ventilation.

The staff was very helpful and the co owner has chatted with us regarding the improvements needed. They were very pleased about our comments, both negative and positive. They’ve been recently opened this restaurant; about a month ago and they’re planning to add mutton biriyani for their menu as they are...
