Today I visited Madras Darbar, located along the scenic Marine Drive, with my family .
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful when it came to recommending dishes. We never felt rushed, and they made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal.
What truly stood out was that all the food is freshly prepared after you place the order, which you can really taste in every bite. Nothing felt pre-cooked or reheated it was hot, flavorful, and served at just the right time.
We tried a variety of dishes Mutton Biryani, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken 65, Fish Fry, along with refreshing Orange Juice and Lime Mojitos. Every single item was packed with flavor. The Mutton Biryani was aromatic and tender, perfectly spiced and generous in portion. The Tandoori Chicken was smoky, juicy, and cooked just right. Chicken 65 had that perfect South Indian kick, and the Fish Fry was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, absolutely fresh. The drinks were the perfect cool-down to balance out the rich flavors of the food.
The location right on Marine Drive adds to the charm, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a hearty Indian meal with a view. It was a great experience for the whole family, and we left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

Went to darbar after a friend highly recommended me the place and they did not disappoint.
There were four of us we got , •6 paratas •Two chicken biriyani •A mutton chetinaad curry •A chicken chetinaad curry
Biriyani was my favorite ,it was indeed a chicken biriyani .not very spicy or oily. up to standards 🙂↕️hands down the best biriyani I ever had🫶🏻
Note to ppl -parata is very filling So We had two of them to go
For the chetinaad curries - delicious and goes well with the food .
Very friendly staff , the owner is very outgoing and nice too (he’d prolly come up to a nice chit-chat)
Bonus points because it was heavily raining when we stood up to leave and owner invited us to wait inside 🫶🏻he gave us two complementary desserts for free too ☺️
I don’t know the name of the dessert but I have attached a photo .it was very soft and freshly made and warm . Melts in ur mouth.smelled so nice🥹 there were cashews inside too!!

Read moreWe recently visited the newly opened Madras Darabar, and our experience was a bit mixed. When we arrived, the place seemed packed, and the staff told us we had to wait for about 10-15 minutes, which was fine. However, some people who came after us were seated before us, which didn’t seem professional. The staff should have been more attentive to customers. They also asked us to sit on the first floor, where there was plenty of space, but they didn’t seat others there, making us wait unnecessarily, which was frustrating.
We ordered our food, but it took about 45 minutes to arrive, which was too long. The Mutton Chettinad tasted really good, but the King Fish Fry was average and lacked flavor, not worth the price. The Parotta and Naan were also good and idly which taste 🥰. For drinks, we tried the Blackberry mojito and Lime Margarita. The Margarita wasn’t great.
Overall, as a newly opened restaurant, they should focus more on customer experience. One more thing, finding parking was a bit...
