Did you ever want to watch your partner sitting on the toilet đ˝? Have you ever thought that not having control over your own AC is a great thing? Do you want rooms where any guest can watch you sitting on your bed? Then look no further.
Blique by Nobis wants to be stylish and modern, but it fails at delivering even the mildest standards of a hotel room. The "doors" to the bathroom are just milk glass hanging in front of the doorway and "open and close" by sliding them along a rail. But they are really not easy to slide and in any case don't even really close the bath off of the main room. So I hope you enjoy the sounds of splashing as your partner is doing their business 1.5 meters away from you and barely in privacy as the glass is transparent enough you can enjoy the view.
Besides that wonderful ambience the air conditioning is not even controlled by you, but instead is controlled centrally. And it is loud and cold. I hope you are a tight sleeper as there is no way to get rid of it. When you ask the staff you get the answer that this is done to save the environment. But they are happy to give you a heater, so you can turn on both the AC and a Heater in your room, which makes total sense from an energetic standpoint (don't get me started on the kind of climate that would produce in you room). I don't want to be too harsh here on the staff as they probably have no control over all that and are just doing their job. They are friendly and you can see the frustration when you ask about these topics. But their hands are tied and no nice attitude can fix a problem that annoying.
We had a room facing the inner court where there is loud music playing pretty long into the evening and night. The windows are okayish in preventing the worst of it but again: light sleepers beware. On the other hand there are rooms where you don't have that particular problem, as they are inside the hotel. But those rooms give other guests the joy of watching you in your room as they have windows facing the inside of the hallways. And the curtains are not as opaque as you probably want to. I certainly could often see people watching TV in their rooms, so maybe it's time to switch off the light when cuddle time starts đ
The rooms themselves are clean but rather small, the shower is severely missing pressure and combining the cold AC with the cellar chique seems to be a little much on the prison feel.
The only good aspects were the breakfast, friendly staff and the sauna.
All in all the hotel wants to appear as more than it is in the end and though the appearance in the lobby is stylish that cannot balance out the gaping holes in what I would consider basic necessities...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights and, unfortunately, our overall experience was disappointing.
We had specifically booked a room with a proper window â a slightly more expensive category â because we wanted natural light and a nice view. However, we were given a room on the ground floor, with a large window facing directly onto construction materials and bicycles. It felt more like a storage yard than a restful space. We couldnât understand why the hotel would promote a room as having a âlarge windowâ when the actual view was essentially a wall. There were also other room types available without windows â it would have made much more sense to place those on the ground floor instead.
Additionally, when we arrived, we were given what seemed to be one of the worst-located rooms in the hotel: right by the entrance, ground level, with no real privacy or atmosphere. We were surprised that no effort was made to offer us a better option within our booked category â especially considering that other rooms were apparently available. It felt like there was little thought given to guest experience in the room assignment process, which was disappointing.
The next morning, we were woken up by loud construction noise â on a Saturday, in a hotel, no less. Not exactly what you expect when you come to relax.
Breakfast was equally affected by construction noise â loud banging above us made it difficult to enjoy the meal or unwind. The selection itself was decent, but the scrambled eggs were watery and tasted diluted, which was a major letdown. The coffee was very weak and uninspiring â just one machine for what felt like 100 people, so there was a line to wait every time. Aside from that, the variety of food was good.
The bed was very comfortable, and the service was okay. After raising the issue, we were offered a new room for the second night â on the 10th floor with a beautiful view, as we had originally expected. That room was quiet and excellent.
One small but notable detail: the hand soap was extremely drying and overly perfumed â unpleasant to use.
Despite the much better second night, the overall experience was heavily impacted by the first. A hotel should provide rest â we had come from Berlin after a long and stressful workweek, hoping to recharge. Instead, we felt even more disturbed than during the week. No one apologized for the noise, and the lack of empathy from staff was disappointing. The hotel clearly puts effort into design and aesthetics, but in terms of true hospitality and guest care, it was far from what we had hoped for â and certainly not...
Read moreThe lobby is extremely loud, and there is no no proper place to work with quiet. Large, âsharedâ work tables or couches in the lobby, many with outlets that do not work, or none at all.
My room was a sort of post-modern design, with no desk, actually a post with a phone platform, extremely low ceilings, and very tiny windows. I noticed the shower that had leaked all over the floor.
Minutes after entering my room, a D.J. started playing loud music in the lobby that could be heard in my room floors above. this was a Wednesday evening.
I went downstairs to check out and get a refund, before I had even unpacked. The hotel refused. I shortened my stay to 1 night and now I'm writing this review.
The next morning, I walked down to eat breakfast, and there was a line of patrons going all the way up the steps waiting to get in, with a person at a podium slowly giving them instructions for minutes at a time on how to take a card, place it on the table this way, turn it that way when finished, etc. The dining area has small tables that are extremely close together. We were jammed between a stranger and the window looking out at a rather dank, cement-filled courtyard. There was a staff member that was hovering over people as they served themselves food, not giving them very much space to pick what they wanted to eat before rushing over to rearrange the food, sometimes with bare hands.
If you donât mind a very small room and a lack of quiet, and the modern aesthetic is attractive, this might be a match for you. If you value quiet, spaciousness, and a high level of service, then Iâd look elsewhere. There are many other hotels in Vasastan, walking distance away, that are quiet,...
