The hotel street is a restricted NO car zone. If you need help, good luck. Waiting for taxi or Uber etc you need to walk up the street so don't stand in front of the hotel.
The rooms are extremely small. It was smaller than the Silja Symphony Ferry Commodore room with balcony. The room layout I had to either choose to use the luggage rack and walk sideways to get to the closet or forgo that. Closet is super small fits 1 person's clothes if you have a coat.
The bathroom is sizeable but that isn't where one spends more time. There is no bidet for the size of that bathroom, you'd think. There are no bathroom toiletries but they have it, just not there in the bathroom.
Housekeeping is uneven if it exists. They wear 1 set of gloves, cleans the toilet then washes the mini bar cups and glasses with the same pair, fluffs your bed etc. I never saw them vacuum, I was there 4 nights. Towels are rough and well used. The mini bar doesn't get replenished, you have to ask. No tea bags, everything is an ask.
Here's the rub, NO ONE ever picks up the phone. You can call and call. Every number. Restaurant is the only one to pick up the phone.
Room Service, you need your reservation number to order on their app which is a good alternative as they too don't pick up the phone.
The Smart TV has Chromecast but wifi is glitchy and slow. If you want to stream a movie it's a pain. The Marshall speaker is super cool but the electricity for the socket is dead. You have to use the standing light socket. So, choose light or music. It's also a huge box that eats up most of the table space.
The side chair and table faces the bed not TV. So only place to watch TV or your cast is on the bed.
The rug, don't look down. They have slippers.
Windows don't open. Aircon or heat is antiquated and preset, an uncomfortable warm or cold. Just no gauge.
Window light is interior to the roofed yard. Great to sleep off hangovers.
Service: check in the young lady that looks like Amanda Seyforth has lapses in knowledge of the hotel information and your reservation. Suffice it to say, she was 100% wrong on our reservation and to ask her to get you towels, or tea or anything, as they don't answer their phones, you literally have to come downstairs to the receptionist to ask and it still won't happen.
The entire receptionist team has an attitude. Sheesh. I did like the overnight receptionist as he let me in (door is locked of course) and he was nice. He doubles as room service.
There is no concierge. Get over that. Simple request, even giving them the number to call is a hit and miss.
Food. It is a limited room service menu. Identical to the bar. I had one meal at the restaurant. The maitre D a gender fluid LGTBQ was rude, dismissive, glacial. But, the wait staff was warmer, more like a North wind.. After all we are in the Nordics.
Food, oil, oversaturated with dressing so that the lettuce wilted for my Nicoise salad, the pizza was drenched with some oil, the ham and tomato sandwich oddly was great but butter galore.
Bar staff very good. Full bar and cocktails. I would return for that.
For the price of this hotel, it is a wannabe luxury boutique. It has 1 thing going for it, location to shops, next door to fish market, and 5 minutes walking to the waterfront.
I was duly ticked off by the 3rd night, this constant having to ask for basic service. The slow wifi, and the claustrophobic size of the room.
I screen shot my prelim invoice as this is a truthful review and I...
Read moreThis hotel has the potential to be great. As the location is fab. But oh boy , it disappoints in so many levels. |First of all , upon booking this hotel , I had made numerous calls to this hotel to book , sometimes to be on hold for 40 min. No one would pick up. This should have been a huge red flag. I managed to call Diplomaten (a sister hotel) and they picked up immediately (as you do). They said they will inform the management and they apologised and booked a hotel room for me. |Upon arriving I was put in a different room as my room wasn’t ready. (I had requested an early check in) |But to my shock I realised that the only girl behind the desk checking guest in and out of the hotel , was also in charge of carrying my luggage upstairs to my room. She did that only because I looked shocked as it was no bell boy to help me with the luggage as I had 4 bags and also my children. |The reception area was freezing and I saw that there was portable heaters behind hotel desk for the staff but no heating in the reception areas. It was minus 12 in Stockholm as the time of our arrival. |The hotel staff are rude and dismissive. When I arrived late to come back to my room at midnight , they stopped me to ask for advanced payment (they had my credit card details anyway) they said it’s their policy. This while my children were sitting and waiting in the lobby at midnight. |There was a bag missing (they didn’t bring it upstairs ) and when they did , the lady came in to the room as I was in the bedroom resting and attempting to speak to me. I told her it was late at night and she was being intrusive and whatever she wanted to tell me could have waited and she should not be coming in to my bedroom while I was lying down. It was all surreal to be honest. I still to this day , do not know what she wanted to talk to me about. |The gym is super small. You can only have one person at the time training in there. |Room service is shocking. You don’t get new towels. They fold your old towels. They are thin and crusty and old. There is no water for you in the room. So if you want to have water by your bedside you have to pay for it. I asked 3 times and they still would not leave water in the room so I had to take it from mini bar and I was obviously charged for it. They don’t tidy the room while cleaning it. All our stuff still left as we left it. So I’m not sure what the point of housekeeping was really. And for turn down service ? Nah. They don’t even know the word and that is none existent. |Breakfast buffet is minimal ! Hardly any choises. |No matches !!! So if you smoke and ask for matches , they give you a gas stove lighter the size of your leg. It’s pretty wild !! |This hotel is like an Airbnb. They don’t understand the meaning of service or even luxury. |It’s expensive for what it is (I had one of the biggest suits) and I had to carry my own luggage up and down the building. |Go to other hotels and do NOT waste...
Read moreI rarely review hotels. But one is different and I think everything need to be mentioned. Let's start from the things that were exceptional. Service. All staff was very friendly, helpful, eloquent. They remember your morning coffee preference and always wish a good day. Breakfast. It is second to none! Breakfast here was by far the best that i had ever had in a hotel. It looked wonderful, tasted wonderful. Every morning started in a smile on my face because I could not wait to get down for breakfast. I am in love with their avocado toast! Bath. Its huge, comfy, helps you relax after a long day of office meetings.
I am not able to comment about gym and spa as I did not have enough time during my stay to check those out.
Now over to things that are not so good: Room. Its small, borderline claustrophobic. It has everything you need but I am not a fan of small places. Air conditioning. When it is on lowest setting room is still too hot. I could not open windows as room was in courtyard with lots of noise and music. From time to time, smell of someone's poop comes from air conditioning vent. Now that is seriously discusting and unacceptable for a hotel of this level. Bed. It was exceptionaly soft. Some people prefer soft beds. But I dont, I did not feel comfortable in it. Tv. Its not actually a tv. You can chromecast your phone to it, but if you just want to wake up, push a button and listen to bbc news or blomberg. It aint happening.
Overall 3/5 i think is fair. If i was facing street and could open the window overall experience would have been better. Next time I will choose a bigger room with windows facing other way.
I would go back here. Even if it's just for breakfast. As I willl now be a frequent to Stockholm I intend to come back...
