Koh Phangan — Restaurant in Stockholm

I usually go there for work lunch and I only order Phadthai with shrimp. Usually I am happy with it. However today I got really angry after the meal because there was a half alive ANT on one of the shrimp in the dish. I felt so disgusted and pointed it to the waitress. And she just took away the salad bowl where I put the 🐜 with shrimp in without even say “sorry”. I was shocked about how she react about the situation. So I asked her back and asked what she can do for me. She said they can make a new one. I told her I am short of time because I need to go back to work within half hour. Then she said she offer me 20% discount for the meal. I didn’t accept. In the end I said I think I should not even pay for the meal with insect in. She said it is just an ant. I was shocked again, shall I expect a snake in the dish then?! She said she want to change a new one for me but I didn’t have time. I am angry again: I would have time to eat my lunch peacefully if there is no ant in your food! In the end she said it’s all right that I don’t have to pay. Extremely disappointing experience — this place clearly doesn’t care about its customers.

The establishment was in a disgusting state. There were insects coming from the bathroom area and crawling over the table where the napkins, knives, and forks were placed. It was already unacceptable, but what made it worse was how the staff handled the situation.

When I politely raised my concerns, instead of addressing them, the staff became rude and dismissive. They didn’t replace the contaminated cutlery, took an unreasonably long time to bring the bill, and ultimately told me that the owner simply doesn’t care — even suggesting I leave a bad review if I wanted to.

So here it is: I sincerely hope this place gets inspected and fined. If this is the level of hygiene in the serving area, I can only imagine what the kitchen must be like. Absolutely shameful attitude toward cleanliness and...

Food is not what I had expected... the salad was literally swimming in vinegar sauce, which seemed both wasteful and did nothing for the taste. I ordered the whisky marinated seafood with some plain white rice. The seafood was mediocre at best, I do not know where they source the squid, but it was bland except for the overpowering taste of chili. The whisky sauce was regretably also knocked out by this. Best I can say is at least the vegetables were fresh. A better balance between the sauce and the chili would do wonders for this dish. Moving on to the rice, it was mushy and overcooked. You could even see where they had "pulled" out the last rice from the cooking vessel since they left it like that in my bowl!!! Needless to say I did not order dessert. Decoration was random, too kitch and the lights looked like they belonged in a cheap adhoc nightclub... at least service...
