Park Hotel — Hotel in Winterthur

This was good hotel pick. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend and stay here again. English-speaking staff were throughout the hotel. It's located one block over from a multitude of shops, cafes, and restaurants. There was even a outside free concert for 2 days with great music. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The train station is about half a mile away. Please take the train in from the airport as my the taxi arranged by the hotel cost $200 USD. I later found out I could have taken one train ride in for $13. I stayed in room 202. It had a great view of the outdoor on-site restaurant, with a comfortable bed, and updated bathroom. The complimentary beverages in the fridge were much appreciated. The housekeeping was exceptional. I would have appreciated an outdoor space to sit out and enjoy the great weather. The room came with a very large glass sliding door but without a screen to shield the room from bugs and the many birds. This was only 1 of the 2 things I found fault. The other was a personal preference. The onsite restaurant had a very good free breakfast with lots of variety. I did not like the dinner menu. I ordered the bass one evening and was not impressed with the taste or portion size. It was dry and not seasoned well. The service on that evening was lacking, however, I ordered take-away on another evening and was well-pleased. I sat at the bar and had a glass of sweet white and excellent conversation with the server while waiting for my hamburger and fries. Both were amazing. So much so I went back on another evening to order the hamburger and fries again, but, sadly it was not being offered that evening. I paid an additional 39 CHF to check in at 7:00 am with the check-in a pleasant experience. The check-out went just as smooth. I walked the 4 blocks and hopped on the train to the airport. Auf Deutsch unten:|Notre séjour au Park Hotel de Winterthur fut une excellente expérience, alliant avec grâce l'art de l'hospitalité et le plaisir de la table.||Notre chambre Deluxe, d'une dimension spacieuse sans être démesurée, a été un havre de paix. Son aménagement, d'une sobriété élégante et d'une propreté irréprochable, est remarquablement conçu pour le confort. La vue apaisante sur un parc arboré garantissait un calme absolu. On pourrait peut-être suggérer qu'une petite touche artistique, un tableau évoquant Winterthur par exemple, ajouterait une note d'âme personnelle à ce décor déjà très réussi.||Le soir, nous avons opté pour le menu surprise. Il a été globalement une belle réussite gustative. Le tartare, d'une viande d'exception et relevé d'une sauce parfaitement assaisonnée, a ravi nos papilles ; une coupe au couteau lui aurait conféré une texture plus "rebelle" et authentique, pour notre plus grand bonheur. Si la salade nous est apparue un peu généreuse et que sa sauce, peut-être trop consensuelle, manquait légèrement de caractère, cet écart fut vite oublié avec les brochettes de filet de bœuf, cuites à point et d'une qualité excellente, accompagnées de frites maison absolument succulentes. Les desserts, honnêtes et gourmands, ont conclu le repas sur une note positive. La carte des vins, riche et mettant à l'honneur de nombreux crus locaux, est un vrai régal ; on y souhaiterait peut-être une plus grande représentation des vignobles du Valais et de Vaud.||Au réveil, le buffet du petit-déjeuner est tout simplement remarquable. Il privilégie la qualité et la diversité des produits à la quantité superflue. Les confitures, les pains, et surtout la sélection de fromages d'une qualité merveilleuse, sont à souligner. On apprécie qu'il reste fidèle à l'esprit d'un authentique breakfast avec d'excellentes charcuteries, des fruits à parfaite maturité et des yaourts, évitant les plats cuisinés indignes de ce niveau d'exigence. Une suggestion : au dîner, proposer en alternative au dessert un plateau de fromages régionaux serait un prolongement naturel de cette excellence fromagère découverte le matin.||En résumé, notre expérience à l'hôtel pArk fut excellente et a grandement contribué à notre découverte enchantée de Winterthur, une ville que nous ne connaissions pas et qui nous a conquis. Un adresse que nous recommandons sans réserve et où nous reviendrons avec le plus grand plaisir.|__|Unser Aufenthalt im pArk Hotel in Winterthur war eine ausgezeichnete Erfahrung, die auf anmutige Weise die Kunst der Gastfreundschaft mit dem kulinarischen Vergnügen verband.||Unser Deluxe-Zimmer, von geräumiger, aber nicht übertriebener Dimension, war ein Zufluchtsort des Friedens. Seine Einrichtung, von eleganter Zurückhaltung und tadelloser Sauberkeit, ist bemerkenswert gut durchdacht und auf Komfort ausgerichtet. Die beruhigende Aussicht auf einen parkähnlichen Bereich mit großen Bäumen garantierte absolute Ruhe. Man könnte vielleicht anregen, dass eine kleine künstlerische Note, beispielsweise ein Gemälde, das Winterthur evoziert, diesem bereits sehr gelungenen Ambiente eine persönliche Seele verleihen würde.||Am Abend entschieden wir uns für das Überraschungsmenü. Es war insgesamt eine gelungene geschmackliche Darbietung. Das Tartar, von exzellentem Fleisch und verfeinert mit einer perfekt gewürzten Sauce, erfreute unseren Gaumen; eine handgeschnittene Zubereitung hätte ihm eine "rebellischere" und authentischere Textur verliehen, sehr zu unserer Freude. Wenn der Salat uns auch etwas üppig erschien und seine Sauce, vielleicht zu allgemein gehalten, leicht an Charakter einbüßte, so wurde dieser kleine Abstrich schnell vergessen mit den Filetspießen, punktgenau gegart und von exzellenter Qualität, begleitet von hausgemachten Pommes Frites, die einfach köstlich waren. Die Desserts, redlich und schmackhaft, beschlossen das Mahl positiv. Die Weinkarte, reichhaltig und mit einer lobenswerten Betonung lokaler Gewächse, ist eine wahre Freude; man wünschte sich vielleicht eine stärkere Repräsentation der Weinbaugebiete des Wallis und des Kantons Waadt.||Beim Erwachen erwies sich das Frühstücksbuffet als einfach bemerkenswert. Es priorisiert Qualität und Vielfalt der Produkte über überflüssige Quantität. Die Marmeladen, die Brote und insbesondere die Auswahl an Käsespezialitäten von wunderbarer Qualität sind besonders hervorzuheben. Man schätzt, dass es dem Geist eines authentischen Breakfasts treu bleibt mit exzellenten Fleischwaren, Früchten in perfektem Reifezustand und Joghurt, und dabei auf Kochzutaten verzichtet, die dieses Anspruchsniveau nicht verdienen. Ein Vorschlag: Beim Abendessen die Alternative eines regionalen Käseplateaus statt eines Desserts anzubieten, wäre eine nahtlose Fortführung dieser morgens entdeckten Käse-Exzellenz.||Zusammenfassend war unsere Erfahrung im pArk Hotel exzellent und trug maßgeblich zu unserer entzückten Entdeckung Winterthurs bei, einer Stadt, die wir nicht kannten und die uns bezaubert hat. Eine Adresse, die wir ohne Vorbehalt empfehlen und in die wir mit größter Freude...

The hotel was comfy and well thought out. We were in a junior suite for 2 adults and a child, and there was plenty of room… in fact the bedroom had a small table, 2 chairs and a long bench seat to relax on, which meant we could leave the lounge (which doubled as our little one’s bedroom) as a play room too…. In fact the desk became an entire Lego film set!||But it wasn’t the comfort that made it special, it was the staff, who went above and beyond anything I’ve seen before (and I travel for work a fair bit). The breakfast staff knew our morning drinks and had them ready in moments, were friendly and welcoming, and always made sure we were looked after. ||The reception were friendly and helpful, and one evening when we really just wanted a pizza in our room, recommended a local take out, received the pizzas, and called up for us to get them… no charge, no fuss, just helpful. ||And the bar staff were always ready to help, and happy to go beyond just bar things (suggested places to visit, gave us milk for drinks in our room etc). ||We were so comfy and well looked after that despite winterthur being 20-30 mins from Zurich, I think the next time I’m in Zurich for work, I’ll stay at...
