Disappointing Stay at B2 Hotel – Not Worth the Hype or Price
In response to the hotel’s reply: Yes, I did email in advance regarding directions and a pillow request. While I received directions, the hotel did not fulfill the pillow request during my stay. The points I’ve raised in this review are entirely based on my actual experience and are separate from that earlier communication prior to my arrival. I’m sharing this to provide an honest and helpful account for future travelers. While the hotel is visually unique and often featured for its stylish library lobby, the overall experience has been frustrating and far below expectations — especially considering the high price point (over $500 per night).
Overcrowded Lobby and Lack of Tranquility: The lobby — with its striking library decor — is likely what draws many visitors. However, it’s constantly crowded. Tables are almost always occupied, and the noise levels don’t allow for the quiet, peaceful atmosphere one might hope for in a library setting. It felt more like a busy café than a hotel retreat.
Inconvenient Location, Construction, and Poor Accessibility: The hotel sits on top of a hill with no shops or transit options nearby — the nearest supermarket is a 15-minute walk, and the closest tram stop is 11 minutes away. Construction right outside the entrance makes walking around unpleasant. If you have luggage, be prepared to carry it up a long staircase or struggle to find the poorly marked alternate elevator. No assistance is offered from the hotel — you’re on your own.
Style Over Function in Room Design: The room is clearly designed with aesthetics in mind, but functionality is lacking. The shower is positioned directly next to the sink, making it nearly impossible to keep towels or personal items dry. Kettle for hot water isn’t provided in-room — instead, you’re advised to use the coffee machine, which dispenses brown-tinted water or water mixed with coffee grounds. This feels unacceptable for a hotel at this price point.
Noise Issues and Poor Sound Insulation Loud music plays in the lobby even late at night (11:10PM during my stay), there appears to be no quiet hour policy. Inside the room, sound insulation is poor — I could clearly hear hallway noise, doors slamming, and even conversations from neighboring rooms. It was difficult to rest.
Uncomfortable Climate Control The room was uncomfortably cold. Despite trying to adjust the temperature, I woke up with a sore throat, headache, and runny nose. I called the front receptionist at 5am then found out only they adjust the room temperature remotely. I had to visit a pharmacy in morning to buy medication. For a hotel claiming to offer comfort and luxury, this was extremely disappointing that guests had to suffer through this without knowing.
Spa Access Isn’t Included Despite the robes and spa bag placed in the room, you’ll quickly find out that spa access isn’t included in the room rate. It costs an additional CHF 35 for 24 hour access, yet is only available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. meaning it’s really just a 12-hour window. This felt misleading and overpriced.
At over $500 a night, the value simply isn’t there. While the hotel might appeal to those looking for a trendy aesthetic, the lack of comfort, convenience, and basic hospitality makes it hard to recommend. I hope B2 Hotel reconsiders its priorities — guests deserve more than just a...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I came to Switzerland from the U.S. for a week getaway. The flight from Philadelphia is overnight, so it's hard to sleep. I knew all we were going to want was a place to relax and un-wind the first day. B2 was exactly that. After a 10 minute walk from the train station we were there.
We booked the King Suite, which was more like an apartment. They let us check in early, which is availability based, and we understood that before we arrived, but we got lucky. The front desk staff was super friendly and informative about the hotels amenities, including the spa. The room was spotless and exceptionally well cleaned. The bed was also very comfortable with high thread count sheets and down comforter.
We opted to head for the spa right away to relax after a long night of flying.
The spa is over the top incredible. The rooftop hot tub provides breathtaking views of Zürich and was incredibly soothing for my sore back and shoulders. We then went into the Roman Bath and did Steps 1-10, and I felt like I was on a cloud when I walked out of there. There are many baths and many pools/hot tubs/saunas to choose from. It was an incredible experience.
After a good night's sleep and breakfast, we did some early morning exploring downtown and came back for a couples scrub massage, which was excellent. The spa staff are incredibly professional and welcoming as well. The late checkout option gave us until 1pm which was perfect for the next leg of our adventure to Grindelwald out in the mountains.
If I ever come back to Zürich, no doubt, this is where I am staying. This place is worth at least a one night stay. My girlfriend and I both agreed, we didn't want to leave when it was time to check out. Such an amazing place! Thank you again to the exceptional...
Read moreI travel quite a bit for business and B2 ranks for me not only as the best in Zurich but also the best I've stayed in the world.
The hotel is beautifully designed, the common spaces in the lobby are spacious and super aesthetically appealing, feeling like a personal extension of the room rather than a separate impersonal space. So I ended up spending quite a bit of time there and invite friends for drinks and tea and we're relaxed almost as if we were at home.
It's impossible to overstate just how friendly and warm the staff are. One small example, my plane schedule changed and I arrived early and even with all their Sunday rush they went through a lot of effort trying to get me checked in early and even invited me for breakfast. Seriously top notch service.
The spa in the same building is a multi floor facility where you can literally spend hours relaxing in all types of different pools and saunas and steam baths. This is not your basic "here's one sauna room" spa other hotels have so brace for an experience of a lifetime. I saw some complaints about the spa not being included in the room but seriously it's half priced at $30 for one of the world's largest spa facilities.
The rooms themselves are quite spacious and have a homey feel to them tying the knot on a serious 10/10 experience.
Thank you B2 family. What a beautiful gem in the...
