Thanks to my love for James turrell, I found this little gem by searching for him in Taiwan. This is the only place in Taiwan that has his installation. The building architecture is redesigned from a historical building and was aesthetically designed leaving history untouched while enhancing beauty by creating many windows on the walls.
Most of the museum is open concept and reminded me of the Garden or Fine Arts Kyoto by Ando Tadao. Another highlight is the highly refined food in their Alien Cafe. Highly recommend the 500NTD ticket which can be fully redeemed with food or merchandise including entrance. To enjoy the museum by yourself please come during weekdays for a healing time.
The only small little downside is that when I was enjoying the art work, they have a staff that keeps a lookout, I felt that I was watched all the time which made me uncomfortable. I have never had this kind of experience in all the museums that I have been. I hope they take this advice...

Little more than a millionaire’s playpen, this private mini-museum purports to “honor” the history of the site, yet does nothing more than exploiting that same rich history as thin veneer to create a sense of purpose and belonging. Artwork is sparse and pretentious, completely unrelated to the site and the museum’s dense and turgid long explanatory texts only add to the sense of feeling excluded from any connection with the experience. Read moreWhat a surprising find! I came across the museum by accident, and cannot understand why it is not shared on more websites - this was excellent.
Interesting architecture, great (and diverse) exhibitions. A mix of different disciplines too, and all backed by (short) documentaries/videos.
The restaurant / café was another surprise, with excellent food for a decent price (discounted if you pay the 'full' price of 250 NTD).
The staff was approachable and friendly, I am glad to have stumbled upon this museum and fully...
