It was our first visit to the Kloud Hotel. It's easy to be found and parking facilities are good. Checking-in is done at the big checking desk with 3 self checking stations. If support is required, one can call for assistance. But the checking went smooth. The impressive piece in the lobby is the luggage storage, where a robot (arm) handles the storage automatically. A minus is that the storage is only free, when one is checked-in, but that's when I have my bag with me in the room. I like to use the storage facilities at hotels, in case I arrive early, or I check-out, but still will be around the hotel (for meetings, sightseeing aso.) . It would be the first time I have to pay for the storage of luggage at a hotel (except possible if the bags were stored for longer than 24h). We were, however, interested in knowing how the system works, but we could not figure out how to get the codes required, so we asked for assistance. Assistance was with us quickly, with bag tags to be filled manually ... as this seems to be faster than using the storage system... Anyhow we were happy we did not test it, as when we left the hotel, a number of guests were waiting for their luggage, as the system was down.... The room was nice, we had a magnificent view from our room over the former Taichung airport to the central mountain ridge of Taiwan. Very clean, for me the size was ok, except the bed, that was far too short for me (1.82m). Both of us also hit the head at the wood board edge behind the bed, as this stands out a bit too much. Also the light control (a lot of lamps) is a bit odd, but this is personal. On one side of the bed I could switch the 2 bed lamps individually, on the other side both lamps were connected to one switch.
The heights also gave us problems other places. As usual to select the floor in the elevator one has to tab the room key card on a sensor; I had difficult to find it first, as it is very low on the elevator control board.
My wife (and others we saw) had trouble finding the button at the drink water dispenser. As they are on the top, and if you are not that tall it's not easy to see. They possibly could be colored so they stuck out a bit better. It is also the first drinking water dispenser I saw, where you have to move the cup/bottle to different water outlets for different water temperatures.
But, it's a nice place, if we go again to Taichung we will consider it, as long they have...

To be honest, I was already in no good mood to enjoy breakfast during checkout day despite the sunrise view and nice restaurant. Food and variety were all good, restaurant was very comfortable.
Not sure if it was a miscommunication during check in. As I asked about breakfast, since not included in my stay I would like to pay for it first or pay upon visiting the restaurant. I heard and confirmed once more about the complimentary breakfast during check in. The staff said yes it is complimentary and was given a receipt with handwritten timing by the same friendly reception staff that breakfast was hourly between 630 to 930 at level 15. His service was good.
Next day I was told by a different staff at restaurant that breakfast was not complimentary and the receipt is not the breakfast voucher. So we needed to pay which was not to our understanding. After much waiting outside the restaurant there was another staff who came up to show me a snapshot of the CCTV DURING MY CHECK IN WHICH I FELT IT WASNT VERY NICE AT ALL. He could have validated himself whether it was me and clarify about my checkin time verbally. It's not about the money but the professionalism of the hotel. If it was to verify my identity or the facts of the conversation then just do it internally. If hotel policies still require customer to pay for breakfast then so be it and request from the customer nicely. I would glady pay so I can check out early. After the clarification to this staff, we got the breakfast voucher to enter. Was given another card 630-730 breakfast timing although we went in about 650am.
Everything was good about the hotel, may be we were just unfortunate with the untimely misunderstanding.
Location was great, very near to Fengjia night market about 10mins walk or less.
Hotel was clean and very pleasant. A nice 4-star with modern design. Each room has a balcony. There was a complimentary 100NT credit for laundry (washing machine + dryers) located next building which the staff could bring us our and we had the card access to do up the laundy we very much needed halfway our taiwan trip. I saw another Google review about the laundry amenities and proximity to Fengjia then booked this...
Read moreIts a cool little hotel that has leveraged on technology quite a bit to aid them in their daily jobs such as house keeping and check in and out processes.
Of course there are benefits, but also downsides. Benefits are that it is fast and easy, however they are hard coded to dispense the cards exactly at check in time only.
We stayed in a room which I would say is ok sized, not too big but not squeezy either and came with a balcony. We also drove and the process to tag the car to us was easy.
The hotel is located slightly off town center which was something we were aware of from the start, only thing its close to is Feng Chia night market, which probably is a max 1 night or 1.5 night affair.
Overall decent stay for the price and...
