逢甲 FOOTPACE Hostel - 台中逢甲住宿 — Hotel in Taichung

This hostel is located in the same area as many of the other hostels near feng jia night market 逄甲夜市 (5 minutes walk). If you have a problem finding this hostel, you will face the same problem with other hostels. ||||To get to the hostel from High Speed Rail, take the free High Speed Rail shuttle bus no. 12. You only need to show your high speed rail ticket to get on for free. Alight at Feng Jia University 逄甲大學 or the stop before when you see a PUMA (which is nearer to the hostel). The nearest bus interchange from the hostel is Chao Ma 朝馬. From Taoyuan International Airport桃園機場, you can take any of the buses to Chaoma朝馬. From Chaoma 朝馬, take any bus that goes to "Qiao Guang Da Xue僑光大學". A couple of stops and you are at the Feng Jia 逄甲大學 stop. Beware though it takes around 10 minutes from the bus stop to the hostel.||||It is not the typical hostel, more to an ensuite room with a double bed at a price for an hostel. You can see that the owner puts quite abit of effort into ensuring that the room is cosy and comfy with everything you need. For the price, you get privacy, security (2 sensors to go through at the bottom and a lock at your door), free flow of water, multiple television channels, towel, water kettle and all the toiletries you need. Nothing more to ask for, really. ||||One area of improvement would be the heater. Although there is a sign that the next person to bathe need to wait for water to heat up, after 2 minutes of bathing, the water temperature drops and you have to wait awhile (30s-1min) for the temperature to return. If you are a slow bather, you will encounter some problems with this. After the first guest has finished their bath, it will take some time (30minutes?) for the water to re-heat so that the second guest can start bathing.||||If you do intend to book this hostel, it is recommended that you purchase a local sim card as it is likely you will need to give them a call. For starters, they only open from 5pm. Meaning if you arrive before 5pm or need to stow you luggage temporary, you will need to give them a call so that they will open the front gate for you to store your luggage. ||||Do visit some of the "blind masseuse按摩" shops in the area at Feng Jia night market逄甲夜市 for some good massage and some good karma. The massages are affordably priced and do wonders after a tiring day at the night market逄甲夜市. In particular, look for this shop with the 按摩100元 logo named 弘安 located in between PUMA and GNC and at the main road opposite NET. I stayed at Tomer during my 3 days in Taichung. I had actually booked another hostel but was directed to Tomer and I was glad this switch between the hostels was made (thought it might be risky if I were to be placed in a 'shady' hostel somewhere else) as it was damn near Fengjia NM. It was not difficult finding the hostel as I took a taxi but the roads will be rather crowded when the students at Fengjia Uni end classes. Rem to get the driver to drive through Wenhua Lane 138 to Lane 150 where you'll have to drop at an opening to a row of shophouses. Just walk straight to the end of the shop house to find the check-in shop space. I had arrived earlier on my first day and the recept kindly deposited my bags till the check-in time of 5pm. There are 2 security tokens to be used for the hostel, one to enter the main gates and another to access the doors to your block and finally a key to your room door. The room is cosy and well equiped. Like the other review, I had problems with the heater that took some time to warm up, esp freezing in winter. i booked this hostel , as their review is not too bad , who know when i check in .. i waited for 30mins for their stay to come over .... after that we hope that the place is good ... who know 2nd horrible things is they bring us to the room ... the walkway is like a haunted walkway ... 3rd horrible things continue .... go into the room ... bed is so dirty ... room have a weird smell ... and so smelly .... room is not clean ... 4th coming ... bath room also very terrible ... so much dirty that the bed ... i dun even dare to go into bath room ... after all those horrible things happen .. i called up to ask them change a room for me or else do a refund ... they told us that they can change room as well as refund ... they said i have to stay in this room ... at the end ...i have no choice to move out ... and look for other place to stay ... this is the most horrible and terrible i ever stay in Taichung after so many time visited...
