Cat Tail Pocket Inn. — Hotel in Taipei

It is located right beside Y17 Exit of Taipei City Mall, which is linked to the Taipei Main Station. I was worried that I might not find it because of the reviews I read, but hey, it’s easy to find! It’s inside an old building. It’s on the 10th floor. There’s a reception desk before the elevators. So to get there from Taipei Main Station, follow the signs going to Taipei City Mall. In Taipei City Mall, follow the signs for Y exits. Follow the signs where the odd numbers are (Y1, Y3, and so on). I would suggest that you actually exit on Y13 because it has escalators and an elevator, so you can carry your luggage with ease. If you do exit to Y17 like I did, prepare to carry your suitcase up to the heaps of stairs. My suitcase was not heavy, so it was fine. Next to exit Y13 is Y15, then Y17, and they’re approximately less than 50 meters away from each other anyway, so it’s better to exit from Y13.

The front desk staff are very friendly and can speak English. The place is so clean. When I got to my room, I was so pleasantly surprised at how clean, modern, aesthetic, and spacious it is! I was more impressed with some of the things there like the sleek Xiaomi electric kettle, the Dyson hairdryer, Aesop bathing products, and smart TV with YT and Netflix! There’s no cabinet, but there are hangers. There’s also a mini ref, and you will be provided with cups, cute cat spoons, and a can opener! There’s also the basic stuff like a toothbrush with toothpaste, hair cap, shaver, and comb, and bottled water 3-in-1 coffee and two types of tea. But checking on it in Agoda, it looks like they’re not going to be providing disposable products anymore starting January 01, 2025, unless you request them at the front desk. There’s no cotton buds and hand wash. The Wi-Fi is strong. The water pressure in the bathroom room is strong as well. The bed is so comfortable, I had a really nice sleep!

The room is spacious for a solo traveler like me, so it was more than enough for me. I booked this room despite being solo because I don’t like to share a room with a stranger, especially the bathroom. I value my personal space very much, so I’m willing to pay for it, however expensive it can be.

There’s no room service since it’s not a proper hotel, so your room won’t be cleaned up unless, I guess, you request for it. I didn’t, because in 3 nights I spent there, I didn’t see the need for a cleanup. There’s a common kitchen area that has a nice view of the city.

I highly recommend this place for its location, as it is just right next to the Taipei Main Station and a walking distance to Dihua Old Street and Shopping District. Although there are no convenience stores around, the Taipei City Mall is literally just below the Y17 exit, so all is good. I highly recommend this as well for its cleanliness...

Super cute hostel with private rooms. Rooms are small but excellently furnished and decorated so they are very comfy and cute. They are more like beautiful mini apartments than a hostel room!! Cute cat theme throughout - cat paintings, even little cats on the hand towels. Such attention to detail!

Whole place spotlessly clean, location superb, staff lovely.

Please ignore the other review claiming this place "doesnt exist", the reviewer is obviously a complete idiot, ha ha. The place is on the 10th floor, just up the lift. The lift might be a little grotty, but the moment you get out on the 10th floor and enter the hostel you are transported to a mega cute and lovely...

This is nice clean small place (8 rooms plus dorms) near the main train station in Taipei. Located on 10th floor with no tall building across the street, you get window with a view in the street facing rooms. Taiwan allows hotel rooms without windows. Make sure you check/ask if this is important to you. Rooms are very clean but relatively basic. Staffed by young folks who were very friendly and helpful. A great place to stay. They also have dorms with shared bath. No breakfast but it is close to station so not much of an issue. . They will arrange transportation to and from airport with fixed price...
