For stamp collectors, head to Counters 17 to 19 for the philatelic section where you can buy current issue Republic of China (Taiwan) stamps at face value. This post office has stock for stamp issues that I was told were out of stock at other post offices in Taipei. You choose what you want either by showing pictures of the stamp issues you want from the post's website or by pointing to the rotating display stands on top of the counter.
The staff are friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help stamp collectors.
If you want to go to the stamp museum branch (a small one compared to the main branch near CKS Memorial Hall, but still worth visiting), head up the staircase immediately after Counters 17 to 19. Don't go all the way to the end of the building and take the staircase up as this leads to the PO Box and banking sections.

Read moreThe Beimen Post Office is a true gem, with its historical architecture beautifully preserved. I came here to send out some postcards and was impressed by the excellent service; they even have specific counters for English speakers and tourists, which was a huge help.
Beyond its function as a post office, the building offers much more. The upstairs museum is a must-see, and for those who enjoy collecting stamps, there are several unique ones available. Their merchandise also looks incredibly cute and makes for great souvenirs.
While I didn't have time to explore the paid exhibits, the free displays were fascinating and definitely worth a look. If you find yourself in the area, the Beimen Post Office is absolutely worth a visit for its blend of history...

To those sending things back home from Taipei, you don't have to worry because they give you detailed tracking and I've been on that site every so often and I get good enough information for where my package is. I also did not need to pay any duty or taxes because I was sending my used personal clothing (which you need to declare on the slip). Returning back to Canada I did not need to declare anything...
