Cavemen Hostel — Hotel in Taipei

In response to the property's rebuttal, the property has gotten my name wrong. I'm not sure who is Mr Lin and why are you claiming that I used a different name to tarnish the reputation of your hostel.

I checked in together with a travel mate and we booked the same hostel for the same dates. The reception was well aware of this and even showed us our beds during the noon. I'm quite puzzled why the hostel raised issues on "safety" when they have clearly admitted among themselves that they forgot to ask for my passport during the noon. Facts being twisted!

When I arrived in the reception at night, I have already put the passport right on the counter. I requested to speak to the person in-charge, and here came “Sonia” who refused to speak in English and refused to get Agoda involved because she said Agoda has nothing to do with this notwithstanding that I booked through Agoda. The entire conversation was going in circle and I reminded her not to “act blur”. She pretended she didn’t know what I was talking about and here I reminded her again not to “act dumb”. So, please don’t twist the facts when the word “idiot” was used. I challenge you to bring up the video and get the police involved.

Oh yes, this hostel claims that they WILL NOT contact the police because it’s not part of their job. Too much facts being twisted. Sonia, you need to get your integrity and professionalism to the right standard. I don’t even know why you’re still in business.

To avoid if possible

-⚠️☣️⛔️⚠️hygiene was an ENORMOUS issue •there was a pungent odor of urine at the entrance on the 7th floor before even walking in. In fact there is always a faint smell of urine in most places inside, especially the restroom. •The shower areas are never properly cleaned. There is mold build up everywhere and dust on the tops of shower doors.

staff is unpleasant, and rigid • after staying for several nights and not being able to sleep through a single night, I realized why there is such a high fee to cancel… because if they didn’t have it I think everyone would cancel once they saw the place!

the “lockers” are pitiful. They are incredibly small, and there is a sign that says reads “do not leave valuables in locker”… ummm where else are we meant to store our valuables?

the AC in the room is not reliable. I woke up in a sweat a couple times… but a sign that reads not to lower it past 25C

the mattress is old and I can feel the springs in my back, the bed I had even cracked as I tried to climb in.

The only positive? Location … but I’m guessing this is why they treat their guests so poorly.

not worth the price

I have stayed in many hostels throughout South East Asia, Europe, and North America … this is one is amongst the worst.

Alright, listen up fellow budget travelers! Just got back from an awesome trip to Taipei, and I gotta recommend my hostel, Cavemen Taipei Station Youth Branch. Now, it ain't gonna win any fancy hotel awards, but for the price, location, and vibe, it seriously can't be beat.

First off, location is king, and Cavemen is killer in that department. It's a super short walk from the Taipei Main Station, which makes getting around the city a breeze. Plus, there's tons of restaurants nearby, so no hangry meltdowns on your adventure.

The hostel itself is pretty no-frills. My dorm room was clean and had comfy beds – big plus after a long day of exploring. There's a shared kitchen where you can whip up some meals to save some dough, and a common lounge area where I met some cool people from all over. We ended up exploring some night markets together – definitely recommend that!

Overall, Cavemen isn't a luxury stay, but it's a fantastic option for backpackers who want a clean, convenient base to crash after a day of soaking up all that Taipei has to offer. Plus, the friendly staff and social atmosphere made it a great place to meet some new travel buddies. For the price, I couldn't have...
