Flip Flop Hostel - Garden — Hotel in Taipei

This is a wonderful hostel to come to when you're in Taipei. Conveniently located within a stone's throw from Taipei main station. Staff were awesome & really a home away from home. Across the street, you have, 7/11 & nearby you have the famous 大肠麺线 & 卤肉饭... It was amazing! You never come...you never know!

Update: 08 May 2023. Yes, you've guessed it! We're back at Flip Flop Hostel. Awesome as ever! Staff were friendly & service was top-notched. Still one of the best accommodation within Taipei. (imho)最高!快乐就是...午餐还是可以吃早餐! 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟.

Update: 18 May 2023. We are extremely blessed to have stayed at your wonderful hostel for 10 fun-filled nights. Time really flies when you are having fun. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and your warm hospitality showered upon us. It is great to stay with friends.

Update: 07 Nov 2023. We're back! The staff were still as awesome as ever and we're staying for another 17 nights!

Update: 10 March 2024. We're back again for another 3 weeks! Staying at our usual favourite room which is the BEST room at FlipFlop Hostel. Staff were still as awesome as always. Must come! You never come,...

Overall the hostel was ok, clean and in a good condition. Also the staff is really kind and helpful! Still, I wouldn't come back next time.

However, there are many things that really annoyed me: Definitely too little storage space in the rooms. Although the beds provided quite a lot of storage, there was no space to put your backpack. And the rooms had no trash cans! The beds were too short, at least for s 185cm tall guy, my feet poke out of the privacy curtains! The showers are really tiny and it's hard to even squeeze in with your changing clothes Putting the used toilet paper in a bin is really disgusting and smelly (although it's quite common here) When I book "breakfast included" for a hostel stay, I'd expect it to be included and not only a voucher for a discount. The breakfast is way below average - it's just as good as the convenience sandwiches. And it had not many veggi options Hostel guests were not really well-seen in the restaurant or the book store from my point of view. In the boon store you have to buy some snacks or drinks when you want to sit there during business hours. While I can understand it, it's still annoying because I already paid enough money for the hostel itself in my opinion.

Overall, the concept of the hostel is amazing, however it severely lacks...

In general, your hostel is pretty, and much of delicate design. For example, the restroom light is automatic so it's green. Also, the Taiwanese old-fashioned handbags hung inside the shower rooms are not only friendly for use but look very local, which can express Taiwanese element in lifestyle of decades years ago.

Here are some things to get improved. First, emergency exit works a bit weird, because the door cannot be closed if someone doesn't pay attention to close door. In this way, there is a safety concern, which also means no use for door lock system of elevator.

Second, it seems no escape device near window of the bedroom, something like escape ladder or rope. for this point, maybe I got wrong remember. Could you please help me explain it ? thanks.

Btw, the space for accommodating personal belongings in male dorm is quite big enough. I like it.

It's hard to get perfect. But I appreciate your service and hostel surroundings, when customer's expense is taken...
