Stayed 3 nights at Purple Garden and found the hotel to be well-located with many local eateries, restaurants and shopping centres around. The staff is very friendly and helpful and converse in Mandarin and simple English. Rooms are comfortable and clean and of reasonable size. Very wonderful place to stay. The only thing I found lacking (and it is really just a small matter) is that they only provide tea bags in the room and bottled water, no coffee, so just bring your own or buy from the many convenience stores around. Reasonably priced hotel and good value I feel. I have gone to Taipei many times before and stayed in many budget hotels, this seems to be the best so far. At Taipei Main Station, just use the underground path and look for Exits R4 or R5 which is just next to the hotel. On my first day of arrival, I used the street level to get to the Hotel and it just took me through one big round, when I could have just used the underground path and exit through R4 or R5. Purple Garden is highly...
Read moreFor the price I was paying for, the hotel is beyond expectation. ||Room is spacious, clean and simple. Good toiletries are provided. Green tea bag and water kettle is also available should you want to make your own hot drink at night. The TV channels are a lot. Mostly non-English. There are some channels in English. ||The receptionists can speak some English. The best part is they try to speak English however little to make you feel welcome. ||Best of all is the location. It is in front of R5 exit from the Zhongshan Underground mall. The location gives proximity to Taipei Main station (so it is easy to get to airport MRT, the train station and high speed rail station). The hotel is also just some feet away from Zhongshan MRT station, giving you access to the Red and Green Line. These two lines are the key lines for you to explore Taipeinwith minimal...
Read moreThe location is strategic: close to Zhongshan subway station, hence in Zhongshan area with plenty of places to eat and shopping, it can also be reached by one of the exits of the underground Zhongshan metro mall (exit R4 or R5 if I remember correctly), which connects Taipei Main Station and Zhongshan. So if you are in Taipei Main Station and you fancy a little walk instead of getting one more time the subway you can get in there in no time.||Now about the hotel itself. Not bad, not one of the newest but still in good conditions. The bed was comfortable, clean overall.||What bothered me the most was that in the bathroom there was no place to set your stuff while taking the shower, I mean come on, anything would do just give me something to place my soap. ||The hotel staff was friendly and the reception is 24h opened. ||A little too expensive...
