好初早餐 中山 — Restaurant in Taipei

I think this place is on the expensive side and does not have the usual Taiwanese breakfast restaurant style, taste, and quality, it is probably partially targeted to tourists from the youth hostel next door with whom they co-operate, or to students, or other people who can get up late and have money.

They only open at 8:00 i.e. not as early as a normal Taiwanese breakfast restaurant, so it is clearly targeted to tourists. The common Taiwanese person on the way to work would not use this restaurant for breakfast. I arrived at 7:58, two minutes early, and they made me wait outside until 8:00. So there is no exception and tolerance for those who are in a hurry.

The positive reviews are probably partly from tourists who say "Oh look! Sandwiches and fries!"

My "salty pork burger" was mostly salad and just a few lonely flakes of pork (see attached photo), probably to call this thing a "pork burger." It costs 99 TWD but reminded me on...

One word to describe this joint...AWESOME!!! My mouth just gave my stomach a high five. Guests at Flip Flop Hostel can exchange their breakfast coupon here for a variety of delicious meals. UPDATE: 22 May 2024. Each breakfast voucher entitles one guest to NT$70 for food and NT$30 for beverage. (Choose from the set menu). If you want something else from the ala carte menu, you top-up the difference.

When staying at the hostel you get "breakfast included" which just means a voucher, so you most likely have to pay extra. Additionally, the restaurant doesn't seem to enjoy having hostel guests. Every time I was asked "for takeaway" first, and when I said "Have here" they were not really amused.

The breakfast is way below average - it's just as good as the convenience sandwiches. And the coffee is reeaallyy like really bad for that price. Almost 100 NTD for such a watery and definitely not "Latte" was by far the worst and overpriced coffee I've ever had during travelling. Like omg, you don't make milk foam by putting the container under the lance, turning it on and then coming back after a minute. That's just hot,...
