Great hotel, good location and service. Clean, nice free food and drinks for guests. Can be confusing to find from the underground taipei main station.
Need to look for signs to 站前地下街 Station front metro mall - from the underground taipei main station (which is huge and connects to many different exits and malls and transport options - super confusing even though I'm a seasoned traveller). Or ask for directions from the retail shopkeepers to Z exit / 出口. There are exits 1-7, R exits, Y exits, M exits etc as it's an enormous underground transport interchange and retail hub, which I didn't understand before.
Z8 is the closest exit, with stairs. The next closest exits with lifts/escalators are Z3 (across the main road) or Z4 (same side of the main road, 2 blocks away). If you exit from a different exit (not Z), it'll be rather tricky and hot trying to find directions to this place (esp if you're carrying big luggages like we did) so I suggest if you are lost underground, ask around and find your way underground instead of going out a random exit and finding your way above ground.
I booked the executive room for my mum and I, with views of Taipei 101. I would normally have gone for a cheaper room without view, but I booked a better hotel/room for my mum and I'm glad I did. Room size is decent and view is not bad (see photos). Floor space is sufficient for 2 big luggages and 2 hand carry luggages with a little extra space for walking around to get to the bed and toilet. Toilet is clean and nice, with liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner.
They don't provide disposable toiletries like toothbrush etc. The hotel makes up for it by providing free unlimted bottled water, water dispenser (cold, warm and hot), hot packet drinks like coffee and tea selection, as well as a free Happy Hour buffet daily, 2-4pm in the lobby, with finger food and pastries, both sweet and savory, and drinks.
Today's Happy Hour food selection was prepared by Mei. She came to ask if we liked the food and requested for a google review. I usually don't do google reviews as I tend to spend a lot of time writing a detailed review.
Windows are only allowed to be opened a tiny bit (less than 10cm) for safety purposes. I snuck a forearm out to take the photos of Taipei 101 and the skyline. Sun streams in from the direction of Taipei 101 (at 5am in summer) so close the curtains before bed.
They allow luggage deposit before and after check in. We went to Yilan for a couple of days in between 2 bookings and they were happy to store our big luggages for us during that time. We arrived early for one of the bookings and we checked in at 1pm. They require the physical credit card used to make the booking...
Read morei am not really sure why there are so many 5 star reviews because this hotel certainly is not 5 star worthy, for the price i paid.
location is central but not exactly near the MRT exactly, there are lots of walking required & steps to go down & then up again, before actually reaching taipei main station MRT platforms
the nearest MRT exit Z6 is a long flight of STEPS, hence not convenient for the encumbered or the elderly or even the tired
the nearest lift from the MRT is nearby, however it operates only until 8PM daily, which is quite ridiculous because most tourists would certainly come back to hotel after 8PM, hence unable to use it
staff is quite friendly at the counter, however they will try to upsell u some package, u can reject. the L4 reception area is great, lots of seating area, charging points (no universal adapters provided), large multi-purpose bathroom, changing room, kids playroom etc
there is NO default room service provided daily, u need to submit a FORM a day in advance if u need room cleaning. else u can also call the reception to empty ur bins daily & provide a change of towels. the staff that come over will hint that u can bag up ur bins daily urself & throw them at the bins at L4.
also, a hotel staff came over (young boy with glasses), used his hands to pick up trash, pick up dirty towels from the floor, & then proceed to use the SAME HANDS to pick & give us our "fresh" towels. goodness gracious.
room itself is ok in size, & very clean. however the shower pressure is poor & unsatisfactory, chair provided was extremely old & squeaky. room insulation is poor, we can hear the next door TV blaring & them talking, also other knocking sounds that woke us up. The location of the hotel is also beside a firestation hence be prepared for constant sirens.
our room was at a high floor, only accessible by lifts 5 & 6, lifts took very long to come each time, & when going down, always opens at multiple other floor, with no one waiting. it is extremely frustrating.
plus point though, it is easy to get an Uber from the hotel building & the car will stop right at the entrance
there is a large 7-eleven round the corner for snacks & drinks, which is great, also a sandwich stop just few steps away, with nice sandwich
in conclusion, thank u for the stay, it is ok for 1-2 days, but I will not stay here again on my...
Read moreStayed here for a 8 night quarantine. If you plan to order anything from outside, DO NOT stay here. The hotel provide time slots for deliveries (please see picture ) and if your order has not arrived before the deadline your delivery ( food in my case ) then your delivery is being delivered during the next time slot. This is very bad service and my food was 1 time slightly delayed and the hotel brought the food to my room 3 hours later when is was the next time slot. These time slots are set by the hotel itself and is NOT standard at other hotels neither is it a regulation from the government.
I have stayed in other quarantine hotels in different countries and this is not the standard anywhere. The explanation they gave me was that they cannot go to the rooms too often. This just doesn't make sense. They don't even wear full protective gear ( please see picture ) when delivering goods to the rooms like they do in Vietnam for example. So what is the problem then to deliver goods to the rooms? How about wearing full protective gear and just deliver whenever your guests are ordering something from outside.
Another very bad thing about the time slots ( please see picture ), is that the breakfast is delivered between 8-9 am. The first time slot for deliveries is 9.30 am. This makes it impossible to have coffee with your breakfast. I asked them about it and they said. "If you delivery arrives 7.30 am the latest, we can arrange it to go with your breakfast". So my coffee is supposed to arrive 7.30 the latest and my breakfast might arrive just before 9 am....Great logic.
I was out of water at 5 pm and asked for a new water bottle, the hotel responded that they will deliver the water on the next time slot, which was 6.30. 1 hour and 30 min to delivery water...
I value service and I can unfortunately not recommend this hotel to anyone since their logic is flawed and they have proved that their...
