Minren Hotel — Hotel in Yuchi Township

While the staff have been very friendly and the location excellent, I cannot recommend more than 1 night stay.

Pros: Courteous and friendly staff Unbeatable location right next to the bus boarding bay to other locations eg Taichung/Alishan. 7-11 is 4 shops down. Competitive pricing, given its location.

Cons: Very dated bathroom - it seems like the bedroom was refurbished but the bathroom is still in the 1970s era. Ventilation not strong. Small towels, but minor concern. Mosquitoes. Despite having closed off all windows, I could barely sleep 3 hours due to mosquitoes’ appearing from somewhere and harassing me awake. I also see evidence of previous guests’ efforts on the walls. We stayed at Minren Hotel for two nights. The first impression was the location, location, location. It's just right where the bus stop and very convenient and close to everything. The hotel condition was decent, no elevator so if you travel to Sun Moon Lake with a heavy luggage so you will have to carry it up all the way to the top. The service was nice even though the owner could speak very little English but they definitely tried to help us. The breakfast was at Mos Burger and the line could be very long if you go there during the peak hour because it seemed to me all the hotels around there just sent their customers to Mos Burger for breakfast. There is a curfew at 11 PM but seriously there is nothing to do in Sun Moon Lake after...

Stayed here for 2 nights when visiting SML. The location of this hotel is sooo convenient. You get off the the bus and there it is across the street. You have all the shops and restaurants around you. The lake is a 5 min walk away. Bike shops are also all close by. The owners are very nice. The room was spacious and clean with A/C and heating. Breakfast is at Moss Burger across the street, a Taiwanese McDonald's. If you go back to Taipei from here, there is a bus across the street.
