Delightful homey hotel. My friends and I stayed here a few nights during a class trip to Tanzania, and it was wonderful. Rooms are well furnished & cozy with beautiful decor. Includes complimentary tea and coffee, with powdered milk and brown sugar packets. Each room has a water jug with both boiled and cold water that is safe to drink (the tap water in the washrooms is not). Washrooms had a wonderful shower closet; complimentary soaps, shower caps, shoe mitts (for cleaning your shoes), as well as sanitary bags. Several towels were available on a rack, and there is a toilet with both a bidet and toilet paper. The main rooms are also well decorated and welcoming, with beautiful framed pictures of animals and paintings of people placed thoughtfully throughout the hotel (I found these even more enjoyable after getting to know people in the community and seeing the animals on the safari). There is a reading knook with books on the main floor by the stairs which end strategically facing the restaurant. Meals are buffet or made to order depending on how many guests are at the hotel. Groups have assigned tables. Food is tasty, but coming out of Canada most of it is very different and in the end I'm not sure I liked it or not. There was always some familiar and enjoyable option, but with regards to trying something unfamiliar I didn't come out of it with a new favourite dish haha. That said the presentation of everything was well done and staff came to take our plates for us when we were finished. Everything was very clean and tidy. At the end of the main hall is a pool & bar. Excellent after a long day in the sun. The pool is not very deep or big, but it's enough to do some laps, cool off, or play games (all of which we did). There are towels available as needed for drying off and cushioned chairs to lay back (or lay down) on. The bar has several collections of tables and chairs which it services, as well as any guests in the pool. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were available, though they usually took some time to appear after being ordered. The staff are very welcoming, and speak good English as well as Swahili. When we arrived a staff member met us at the door and helped us with our luggage, upon entering we were greeted with juice in a beaded cup holder. After checking into our rooms we received keycards and WiFi. It's very important to return the keycards when checking out, as with most other things; care is taken to prevent waste and instead reuse or repurpose. Over all it was a wonderful place to stay, I slept well every night and ate well...

My husband and I had the most delightful time at The African Tulip. We were welcomed upon arrival with a hibiscus drink and taken to our room. To say I was obsessed with our room would be an understatement. It was so comfortable, spacious, and I could not get enough of the leopard print decor!

The rooms have very spacious bathrooms with very a large shower and comfortable bathtub, and plenty of counter space at the sink and behind the bath if you are someone unfamiliar with the concept of packing light like I am. There is a filtered water dispenser in the room so you can rest assured that the water you are drinking is safe to consume.

The gentleman working the pool bar and restaurant was attentive and offered an excellent recommendation when I asked for a meal that was authentic to the area and not too spicy. I got the SATO fish, and it was delicious, especially the tomato coconut sauce that comes with it. It was something I never would have picked myself, and I’m glad I trusted his expertise.

The staff continued to impress me at dinner - they were also very attentive and the food was excellent there as well.

I usually aim to stay at 4+ star establishments and The African Tulip was booked for us as part of a safari package we bought through a travel company. Do not let the 3-star rating that is shown on Google fool you - the amenities offered and service provided far exceeded any expectations I had for the hotel. Because the stay was part of a package, I don’t know exactly how much our night cost here, but I suspect I would have been very pleased with the value of the stay in terms of cost versus quality of rooms and service. I would gladly recommend anybody to stay here and will never forget the lovely...

I had an absolutely amazing stay at The African Tulip Hotel in Arusha. The hotel’s interior is stunning — warm, elegant, and full of authentic African charm. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, making it one of the most comfortable stays I’ve ever had in Tanzania. The food was delicious, the garden was serene and lush, and above all, the staff were incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive. Their hospitality made the experience feel truly special. If you’re visiting Arusha and want a luxury hotel that blends comfort, culture, and class — The African Tulip is the perfect choice!

Wow. Prices would be very reasonable if it was in he US, so they seem exorbitant for Tanzania. Our room turned out to be a three bed suite and our safari company negotiated the price down for us from a base rate of $200 A night. But the room was stunning, the service excr plant and the restraint quite good by international standards, and included well prepared examples of Tanzanian cuisine at reasonable prices. If you arenfoingnon safari, this is a great first stop after a long flight. Roy's Safari, which we were very happy with, is right next door, so the synergy is great.
