Makofi was the best stay I’ve ever had in all of my holidays. I went to Makofi with my girlfriend and they welcomed us with open arms.
The rooms are clean. The rooms have no windows except from the King Hut. Windows are not necessary though. Makofi is a very safe place. Also at night there is security.
The service is also extremely friendly. They make jokes and are happy. We had the feeling there is a wonderful harmony between the stuff members. If they have time they join you to play darts, badminton etc.. They have alle the darts and badminton stuff there.
The food and drinks are a little bit expensive compared to the local prices but not more than european prices. We can definitely recommend the Makofi Chicken Burger for 11$ which is served with fries and one soda. One of the best burgers we’ve ever had. Every few days they do a BBQ which is really good You can also eat and drink there when you’re not a guest.
Makofi is very close to the beach(1min), to the ATM(3min) and money exchange(6min). The airport is 90min away with the car but it depends on the traffic.
At Makofi there is also Rosie. Rosie is a baby cat and really cute. She likes playing and cuddling with you. But be careful sometimes she tries to get in your room.
You can book trips to Mnemba Island, Prison Island, Jozani Forest and much more with the hotel. They have cooperations and will organize the trips for you.
IMPORTANT: If you book on the Website of Makofi you’ll get 15% discount on all food and drinks!
Many wishes to the Makofi stuff from Cristiana and Julien. Especially to Isaac who was very kind and like a...
Read moreAn absolute gem of a place to stay! The property was super clean and had such a friendly, laidback and unpretentious vibe. We stayed in a Comfort Hut which was a small wooden standalone with ensuite towards the back of the property. The room also had a mosquito net and air conditioning. They are currently in the mix of building a new restaurant area behind them but the huts are well insulted and it was of no disruption. The staff were great - with a special shout out to Raffi who was incredible. He is so helpful and genuine and we appreciated our chats. It’s a one stop shop here as brekkie is included - which is a served fruit plate, pancake and your choice of eggs with toast including a coffee and juice. Their kitchen opens at 12.30pm-9pm daily and their menu has a wide range of dishes to cater for all preferences (including gluten free & vegetarian) - pasta, burgers, noodles, schnitzel, salads and of course their Zanzibar famous pizzas! The property is only about 150 metres down a little lane way from the Nungwi public beach, 2 doors from a funky rock bar and a stones throw to plenty of eateries, if you’re wanting to head out for something different....
Read moreIf you're looking for a "home away from home" , a village - like setup where you shower and brush teeth, and have restrooms outside, including eating outdoor in a beach - like setup then Makofi is the place.
The place offers a typical restful place where one can just hang around by the swings, walking barefooted or seated by the room's veranda. Makofi officials have loads of respect, warmth and humility which is authentic!
The lodge could consider investing in a Chef especially for breakfast meals. Also, Makofi should consider drafting menus so that guests could read and chose by themselves. This eliminates communication barriers. I personally chose Makofi due to its style, price but also the fact that there were no pets. I've a phobia for cats, although I had to leave my outdoor relaxed moment when I saw a cat. Otherwise I felt safe.
Apart from 2027 [AFCON] one may likely return to Zanzibar, including that I attempted to hook up my relatives who urgently needed accommodation there while emails take time to be responded to. Thank you for a lovely and...
