To say that Atii is a great restaurant and a wonderful stay would be an understatement of many degrees. It’s a vibe, it’s a culture, it’s a home away from home. The rooms are generously gorgeous, crafted with great detail, maintaining the element of luxury with a touch of rustic. Open your doors to a garden that feels like home, every plant places with great thought for the perfect feeling of being in the tropics. Every element, from natural light to night lights, from flooring to ceiling has been detailed with a great deal of love, and that shines through the moment you step foot on the property. The owner, Gil is warm and friendly, with great tips about spots to visit around Nungwi, also with useful info on what to what to watch out for. The chef Aleksander is a culinary genius, designing the cocktails and each dish with fine craftsmanship. It’s the best food you’ll find in Zanzibar - period. Focus on Tanzanian cuisine with a modern, refined and extremely palatable twist! The staff so friendly and kind. And the plenty of playful kittens running around truly make it a home away from home! Additional to the many lovely things about Atii, what I loved the most is that they are sustainable, eco-conscious and environmental- friendly. Must stay, must eat, no other place in Zanzibar is as stylish and homely all in one place ♥️ Can’t wait to...
Read moreThis review refers to my experience with the owner of the bungalows before our stay & after our cancellation: One of the WORST EXPERIENCES I have ever had with an accommodation. KEEP AWAY from this hotel AT ANY COST! We paid months in advance to stay for our holidays in Zanzibar. Every time we had a question before the stay, the owner would either never respond or take weeks to provide a simple answer. Due to COVID-19, we had to cancel as the British boards were closing down, our return flight was cancelled & we had to urgently cut short our holidays in Zanzibar. The hotel & the owner kept the money paid and refused to provide any refund. They were completely unprofessional not responding to any emails for weeks. When eventually responded, the owner was rude mentioning that they will keep our money as it’s not their fault the COVID-19 issue. They never provided any kind of service but kept the full amount of money. The perfect job; take customers money, without any provision of service & then disappear in any communication of refunds, even for partial refund. SHAMEFULL practices to make EASY MONEY for a hotel owner. STAY AWAY and spend your money to respectful &...
Read moreThe only winner during our stay is breakfast and amenities such as beach towels w a nice basket bag, robe, safe provided in the room. The location is totally off road even though it mentions it is 400ft from the beach it is a challenge to get to the beach and then have to walk through puddles of muddy road to get back to the bungalow. First encounter with the host perhaps the owner wasn't as pleasant as we arrived from the airport exhausted and had requested early check-in which was accepted however upon arrival she mentions our check-in is later and we must wait not in the most hospitable manner. Wanted to change the hotel right then and there unimpressed with the location and moreover with the hospitality but unfortunately nonrefundable. You will find better options for the same price closer to the beach and a much nicer neighbourhood where people seem happy to host you. The local staff are very hospitable. Later met Lisa from South Africa and had a much better experience. If it weren't for the local staff and Lisa our first stop at Zanzibar had already...
