Lani Chiang Mai Hotel — Hotel in Chiang Mai Province

Ok, so notice not many recent reviews so here’s an update from my week long stay in February, things didn’t start well, I had asked for an early check in as arrived in Chiang Mai after 14 sleepless hours on night train in cattle class, to make things worse I had become very ill with a fever, in arrival I tried to ask for an early check in explaining I was ill, I was very promptly turned down and told to go away and come back at 2pm, despite being clearly unwell. I was also given wrong directions to Pharmacy. I asked if u could leave case and if I hadn’t pushed them they would have left in the foyer. When I came back at 2pm the lady actually grabbed my bag from the pharmacy off me and looked inside which I felt was rude, English spoken here is very poor, I had a problem with my Bank stopping my payment because fraud was expected, unable to phone out or use phone in hotel rooms begged for help to call the uk, again no help given, also almost paid by the item for washing which would have cost at least 1000 baht when 5 doors down they did everything for me service wash for 50baht, a previous reviewer called them vultures, I cannot help feeling there is truth in this, door is always locked and signs everywhere warning of fines, 1000 baht for replacement key card, really!!! I requested the double bed and explained I am pregnant in the special request but never received any email that this would not be possible and when Iarrived they said they didn't have it and would push 2 single beds together which is not comfortable or l would need to pay for the upgraded room with king size bed which was $30 more. Feels kind of like a scam so if you must have one bed you need to call the hotel to make sure they have it ahead of time. They did push 2 single beds together and put a double bed mattress on top which was comfortable enough and everything else was fine. Breakfast was ok. The water was not hot but they came and fixed the controller for the temp and was plenty hot after that. The location was ok but next time I might try another area like riverside or Nimman. But the location was quieter than Old City which was...
