Kata Rocks — Hotel in Karon

We stayed at Kata Rocks for a week back in November 2021 and it was a great experience. We booked one of the four loft units right at the front row, at the corner, furthest from the restaurant, with almost unobstructed ocean views. The restaurant is on the level with the loft units.

What we liked: The ocean view! The kitchen: equipped with all you may need including a pop-up exhaust fan *We had a slight issue with the oven which did not work during our stay unfortunately but the kitchen staff at the restaurant helped with grilling some food once or twice during our stay. Otherwise, induction stove worked well. Large bathroom Daily fruits Breakfast at the restaurant Half bathroom on the first floor (1.5 baths in the loft unit) Kitchen Great service: Daily housekeeping, welcome drinks, daily turn down service (we did not need this but they will come over every evening to check any way) Comfortable spa (which was just behind our loft unit) Well-equipped gym, behind the loft units Hotel staff have been more than helpful during our stay

The not too great, but not a big deal for us: Walkability around the property: You'll need to walk through the back of the hotel or underground carpark to get to the units. Or get a buggy to take you around on the property. Location: As with most places in Phuket, you will need a taxi or private car to get around. Nearby places to visit include Nai Harn Beach - which is better for swimming, Black Rock, The Big Buddha, The Sundeck

We stayed six nights on a Luxury Escapes package in Villa #501, One bedroom ocean pool with Loft. From the moment we were collected by private transfer from the airport in Phuket to our resort, we were treated with care and attention. The Villa was on the same level as the restaurant , bar and spa with amazing pool and ocean views to the sunset. Complimentary fruit basket, soft drinks, beer ,water and fresh flowers were replenished each day with turndown service each evening with sweet treats and the next days forecast. We appreciated the washing machine with laundry detergent and clothes horse. Touch pads for all the lighting, air conditioning and blinds took a little while to work out, but we got there. Breakfast was a la carte with good coffee and fruit juices, dinner , which we chose , had a decent selection of Thai and western food along with a delicious home made bread , olive oil and balsamic, as a starter. ( we felt the wine was expensive, so just popped into a bottle shop and picked up a great NZ wine for 1000 baht, which we drank in our room)|Spa experience was first class and so relaxing.|We used the Kata Rocks mobile on many occasions and the Kata Stars buggy team to take us up to the beach or main road. Superb service with the amazing, friendly staff. We had a fantastic stay at KR and wish to sincerely thank management for spoiling my husband on his birthday, with balloons, cake, towel art . Our stay at Kata Rocks Phuket was mostly enjoyable, but there were a few hiccups:

• Upon arrival, one staff member at reception seemed to struggle with English, which was a bit surprising. We were also caught off guard by the 20,000 baht deposit requirement, which hadn’t been communicated to us beforehand. They attributed this to Luxury Escape, our travel agency, but efforts to resolve it with them were unsuccessful. • The staff who showed us to our villa and facilities rushed through the tour, missing details like the second-floor facilities and how to control amenities with the iPad. It felt like she was in a hurry to leave. • Due to our flight delay, there was some pressure on the driver to get us to the hotel quickly, leading to a stressful journey. Fortunately, no accidents occurred.

Positives:

• The restaurant provided excellent food, drinks, and service throughout our stay, consistently deserving of a 5-star rating. • We also enjoyed the spa experience included in our package; the service and atmosphere were exceptional. • The buggy service was efficient and friendly, transporting us between the villa, beach, reception, and Main Street promptly.

Conclusion: Overall, Kata Rocks offers a great experience with outstanding dining, spa services, and transportation convenience. However, improvements in communication and handling pressure situations would elevate the overall...
