A Truly Unforgettable Stay – Exceptional Staff & Service!
My husband and I had the most incredible stay at The Sis Kata Resort from March 7th–12th, and I can honestly say it was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. The hospitality, kindness, and attention to detail from the staff made our trip unforgettable.
Outstanding Staff Who Felt Like Family
From the moment we arrived, the front desk team—Jaja, Amad, Thoop, Karn, and Chom—went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. A special thank you to Karn and Chom for their patience and kindness in helping us tour five different rooms until we found the perfect one with a pool. They spent over an hour with us, ensuring we were completely satisfied, never once showing any frustration—just pure hospitality.
Frame and Jason were absolute gems! They made us laugh, gave us amazing recommendations, and even followed up with a map of Phuket the next day based on our previous conversation. That level of thoughtfulness is rare!
The breakfast team, led by the incredible Rinda and Ms. Mook, took such great care of us. Since we have allergies to seafood and nuts, Ms. Mook and Rind personally spoke to the chefs and even helped prepare soup options just for us. That kind of care made all the difference, and breakfast was AMAZING every single day—fresh, diverse, and delicious.
Shoutout to Charles and Eak, who ensured our luggage and needs were always met with efficiency and a smile!
More Than Just a Hotel—A Home Away from Home
What really touched our hearts was the warmth and inclusivity we felt as Black American travelers. The entire staff was welcoming, eager to learn, and treated us with nothing but kindness and respect. We felt truly seen and appreciated.
Perfect Location & Relaxing Atmosphere
Beyond the staff, the resort itself was stunning. The location was perfect—quiet at night for restful sleep yet close to so many attractions. We loved the peaceful ambiance and the chance to explore the area with ease.
Already Planning Our Return!
Leaving was so emotional because of how well we were treated. I almost cried saying goodbye! We are already looking for flights to come back, and I’ll be working on getting my boss on board so I can return again.
To everyone at The Sis Kata Resort, THANK YOU for an unforgettable experience. You made our trip so special, and we can’t wait to see you...
Read moreI don’t even know where to begin or to end. To start with I just had a bad feeling about this hotel after seeing the multiple awful reviews on Google cause TripAdvisor has a lot of paid reviews and I was only proved right after checking in.
Right now it’s 7 in the morning and I have been up since 6 from all the noise in the street.
My husband even wrote to them to request for a room with no issues since I was unhappy about staying here after seeing the multiple bad reviews on Google and boy were the reviews right. To begin with they provided us with a room that had unbearable stinging smell of sewage. Not only did the bathroom smell but the entire room was filled with sewage smell. Upon complaining they moved us to a twin room, mind it that it is our 10th Anniversary but forget about that lol. Anyway the staff was kind of nice and offered for the beds to be combined. But then after we unpacked we started hearing awful noises of cars and everything else possible from the streets. When we informed them that we couldn’t sleep the entire night then all they offered was a sorry note. Hilarious! As if a sorry note can change the street noise! They didn’t even offer to change our room to a place where there would be no noise. I mean is that too much to expect after they ruined our 10th anniversary?
When housekeeping did our room, they didn’t provide us hand towels and didn’t even bother to clean the used coffee cup. I mean seriously?
Anyway, please do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY HERE BECAUSE THEY WILL RUIN YOUR VACATION AND WHATEVER OCCASION YOU ARE CELEBRATING!
The fact that I am still here and writing this early in the morning being sleepless is proof enough of how appalling this hotel is! Period!
PS the staff are nice but will do nothing to change your problems and if you want a nice rooftop view then please don’t come stay here just for that! Let me not even get to the part where it’s almost impossible to walk up and down the hotel to reach restaurants or shops. If you have children then don’t book this hotel and if you have any kind of health issues then be very sure that you cannot walk up or down this hotel to reach anywhere without expensive taxi service! Again, do yourself a favour and do not book this hotel. I wish I had the patience to write about more problems we are facing in the...
Read moreI want to like this hotel, but (speaking as I am staying now) I'm pretty disappointed so far.
Upon arrival, the check in process was disjointed and disorganized, with poor communication about what was happening. It took them 20 minutes to scan our passports and we had to repeatedly demand that they remember to return them.
We have a basic room - which admittedly is overall nice enough - very modern, kind of like an A Loft in terms of parallel quality/feel. My family has two rooms booked - the other room is OK but the room I have checked into smells quite possibly like a mouse or a gecko has died in the HVAC. I complained about this by calling the front desk yesterday, and she said there was nothing they could do and that they would at least send someone up to spray some air freshener - no one was sent up. This morning, we went down and lodged a complaint again - the staff seemed to acknowledge (probably a known issue) and miraculously offered a new room (which apparently 'wasn't available').
Other than that, the hotel location is up on a steep hill - fine for me, but as others have mentioned, perhaps good to note if that would present an issue for you. While the pool has ocean views, to get down to the actual beach and Kata main strip you need to walk down and up the hill - but it is a pretty short walk.
If my room didn't smell like a dead mouse and if the staff had reacted more proactively about this issue, perhaps my review would be a lot more positive (maybe a 3.5 or 4?). It seems like others have had a positive stay - and it's clear that not everyone room smells like this!
However, a room with this smell should have been detected during the cleaning process and should not have been offered in the first place, but even then - I get that issues arise, and if solutions are offered quickly I like to think I'm reasonable. I have stayed at much more basic hotels and would rate them much higher - an instagram looking facade does not and will never compensate for falling short on such small but fundamental details, most importantly genuine, proactive and honest...
