O'chai Bungalows and restaurant — Hotel in Ko Tao

Stayed there for 2 nights because they worked with my dive shop Scuba Shack. I paid 1000 baht per night for AC room/bungalow.

Pros: It’s right on the beach - that’s about it. It’s probably one of the cheapest accommodation on the beach. But since I was diving the whole day anyway so the proximity to the beach didn’t really matter to me. AC and hot water worked.

Cons: It was basically a concrete box and I felt like I was in a prison cell. The inferior was poorly done, even though they just built the bungalow. The room wasn’t that clean. There were no fridge, water kettle, soap/shampoo nor any other basic amenities. Wifi didn’t work. No room service.

After 2 nights, I found another hotel across the main road, called Living Chilled, and stayed there for 7 nights. It was cheaper than O’chai but was clean and got AC, basic amenities and daily room...

Please do NOT stay here! We regret booking this place so much. The staff we encountered were ignorant, miserable, uncaring, bloody useless! Only 1 staff member in restaurant that was great, Mai I think her name was, she was lovely. The beach at this end is quieter but was littered with rubbish which I spent a morning collecting whilst staff watched me. The beds were rock hard, pillows huge and hard, rooms smelly, toilet water leaking onto the floor, the smell was horrible. When I informed staff I was told that they know! It will be fixed when we leave! Unbelievable. No kettle, coffee, tea, no cocktails available at restaurant as low season!!!!!!!! We booked at budget accommodation throughout our 1 month stay in the 3 Islands and this one was the ONLY one I gave a negative review. Do yourself a favour and...

SCAM. Beware of the owner, or should i say the weasel!! Went there with some friends to eat BBQ, the owner told us that the price would be around 250 bath per person but at the end he made us pay 600 without notifying the change. I heard they usually do this petty tactic with turist, do not trust them and make sure that everything your order has a clear price written on the menu

What's more, saying that food was underwhelming is an understatement. Fish was cold and rubbery. Cocktails were so diluted compared to the ones they serve during the afternoon.

The only upside is that this place is great if you want to strengthen your jaw by chewing for hours.

The area is full of better and cheaper restaurant, do not waste...
