Don’t have enough time to read the review below? Here is the summary: Book the executive studio suite with a river view and balcony you won’t regret it!! Zoom, Kathy, Maew, and the rest of the staff are nothing short of phenomenal.
Communication before arrival: The front desk of the hotel closes at 10:00 pm and of course our plane was scheduled to land at 9:30 pm. When I emailed the hotel, I received a prompt response letting me know that someone would wait at the hotel until we arrived.
Late Arrival: We arrived around 11pm and as promised, several employees were awaiting our arrival. From the moment we entered the hotel we were met with positive energy and a genuine interest in making our stay a memorable one. We were immediately relieved of our bags and given some refreshing apple juice. The check-in process was smooth. All we had to think about was what we wanted for breakfast in the morning.
Stairs: After checking in, we walked up a few flight of stairs and our bags were already waiting for us outside our room.
State of the room and view: As we entered the room, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the room and view are EXACTLY as advertised. The room and bathroom were in pristine condition and the air-conditioning worked well. There is a nice soaking tub in the bathroom that looked lovely, but we didn’t get to use it during our stay. The view is breathtaking both at night and during the day. At night the Wat Arun is shining in all its glory and boats with mesmerizing lights cruise down the river. During the day, the only difference is that the boats stand out on the water because they are extremely colorful.
Breakfast: Every night we put our breakfast order in and let the staff know what time we anticipated coming down to eat. Ordinarily, the front desk closes at 10 pm so be sure to get your order in before then!
Okay enough logistics, let’s talk taste: there are about seven options and we tried two. Our favorite was the pancakes, bananas, and bacon. The cook, Maew, did such an excellent job that my mom went over to thank him in person, twice! In addition to the made-to-order items, there are staples to supplement your meal each day. Staples include but are not limited to: cereal, milk, assorted fruit, toast, Nutella, jams, and bottles of water.
Above and beyond hospitality throughout stay: Throughout the our stay, everyone we encountered, including Zoom and Kathy, went the extra mile to make sure our stay was pleasant. From ordering a car on a personal phone because we were having difficulty doing so to offering fresh juice when we came in visibly exhausted from our daily activities. They were all amazing and we are grateful.
Checking Out: The checking out process was also seamless. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel for several hours until it was time for us to head to Chiang Mai.
Location: The location is super convenient to visit Wat Arun and the Grand Palace. There are also taxis and tuk tuks nearby in case the Grab app isn’t working.
Vibe: Young hotel (at the time about a month old) primed and ready to make a splash on the river front.
Note: there is a rooftop that we didn’t make it to, but judging from the amount of people who came to check it out and the appetizing looking food headed upstairs, it definitely seems worth checking out!
Thank you to all of the staff at Arun Riverside Hotel for making our first stop in Thailand a memorable one, we greatly...

These checks were conducted before booking and again two days prior to our arrival, just to make sure. In all these conversations, we were assured that the room could accommodate two children and two adults.||||We paid a very high price for the suite—for comparison, for a similar price you can rent a suite with two double beds in a 5+ star hotel in central Bangkok. We chose this hotel solely because of its location, which suited our needs. Upon arrival, we discovered that the room had a double bed and only one additional single bed. It should be noted that the reception was aware that two children would be arriving, and the only thing they had prepared in advance was to charge an extra fee for an additional person in the room. Their solution for how the children could sleep was that one child could sleep on the floor with a blanket, or with us in the double bed.||||In the end, we decided to stay so as not to waste the only day we had in Bangkok. After lengthy arguments, they agreed to waive the additional charge and refund 20% of the room price.||||I must highlight the kindness of the reception staff, which stood in stark contrast to the state of the hotel and its policies. The receptionists were extremely pleasant.||||The hotel operates more like a youth hostel. First of all, there is no elevator—just a luggage lift. The hotel has five floors.||||Although we were in a non-smoking suite, the bed upholstery reeked unpleasantly of cigarettes, a smell that also clung to the furniture and carpet and was impossible to ignore. The room has an automatic air freshener, like those found in public restrooms, which did not help at all.||||The attitude towards guests is also reminiscent of a hostel. We were two adults and two children, but received only one key card, which also activates the electricity, and were warned that if we lost it, we would have to pay 500 baht. In the room, there was a detailed list of the cost of every item in case of damage. Honestly, I have never seen such a list anywhere, not even in youth hostels. The towels were as thin as paper napkins.||||At the end of our stay, the cleaning staff entered the room in our presence to conduct an inventory check, counting bottles, towels, and equipment. One staff member even told us a hand towel was missing (10x10 cm), which was eventually found inside a larger towel.||||In summary—the real assets of the hotel are the friendly reception staff and the view from the window. This does not in any way justify the four-star rating, and certainly not a price comparable to hotels in Bangkok whose quality and value are ten times higher, just ten minutes away in an excellent central location. The price for this room should be that of a hostel on Khao San Road,...
