Read moreI stayed several times in Divan İstanbul City last year and really liked this place, for its location, friendly staff, and a very nice breakfast. So I can’t describe how disappointed I was this time. I stayed one night, and decided to have a breakfast in the morning when I saw I had time, even limited, for it. I informed reception that I would I have a breakfast and would pay when checking out. Also I asked if they can help me with a taxi to pick me up a specific time, pretty soon. So, it was super weird, that after I informed restaurant staff I’d have breakfast and I would pay that extra fee upon checkout; she found me a few minutes later when I was picking food from buffet, and asked if I knew I had to pay extra. I said yes, although I already mentioned it myself. But then, just ten minutes later, right in the middle of my meal (and it was really hectic, as between the opening time of restaurant and the time for me to leave was not much space), she came with a check and card terminal and demanded me to pay. I was eating at that moment. It was super weird. I still have this really strange feeling. I had to stop eating, had to pay at my table. It never happened before. I stayed in Divan many times, had many breakfasts there, it was always enjoyable and the staff was super friendly. And then the taxi moment. I finished my breakfast, went to checkout, was time for me to leave. No one called the taxi. The receptionist said “I remember” and directed someone to start calling taxi. As a result I left twenty minutes later than I planned. I almost missed my next trip. I can’t really tell how much people’s attitude is important. The location and taste of food are replaceable, but the atmosphere is what...
Read moreI moved here after five nights at a debatable ‘5 Star’ hotel, and I love the Divan City so much more!!||The mattress is superior in quality and my sleep was wonderful. |The furniture and interior design could definitely use a refresh and update. It looks a bit dated and is the only reason I give this property 4 stars vs 5. The Lobby is completely refreshed and modernized. Maybe the rooms are next?||The bathroom and shower are spacious. Nice shower pressure and temperature. Easy to wash all the shampoo out of my long hair. The water does not splash out of the shower and all over the floor like my previous hotel (no moping). There is a bidet feature on the toilet. The vanity is plenty big for all my products.||Breakfast is positively lovey. The croissants and breads are indulgent, the fruits and veg are abundant and the fresh squeezed orange juice is a nice touch. They also play pleasant music which sets a relaxing tone. Overall the hotel feels very cosmopolitan. It’s nice to sit by the window/sidewalk and watch Istanbul wake up. There are windows everywhere connecting you with your surroundings.||I loved my lunch in the pub. I arrived early for check in and needed to wait for my key. The meal was satisfying and there was a delightful glass of Chardonnay to appreciate. If it weren’t slightly raining, I would have happily sat out on the veranda amongst all the plants. Alas, the wall was completely open and there was a light fresh breeze while dining.||The staff is welcoming and helpful. They are approachable, attentive and friendly.||I had no idea how much I was missing from my Istanbul experience until I switched hotels. Thank...
